Self leveling suspension - any regrets?

Hi, When I ordered my X40d (not yet delivered), I selected all options except self leveling suspension. Will i have any regrets if i dont use the tow bar function much?

It is a standard option (leveling suspension) in Australia. Why did you want to miss out the this option? I find it is a useful option, especially when you are carry loads and it is control by air. Very comfortable ride even on 21". Tow Bar? I had in my X5, never use it. IMO it wont look good in an X6 with tow bar.

I did not take this option because my understanding is that it is useful for when you take heavy loads or when you have a caravan or trailer at the back , then it keeps the back level.

But I dont understand your statement that it is very comfortable ride. The comfortable ride is due to the Adaptive Drive system isnt it? Not necessarily because of the auto leveling??!! If i am wrong, please do let me know so i can change my order!

I chose for the Adaptive drive only.

Sorry I mean comfortable ride by adaptive drive but it also contribute to the ride comfort if you are carry heavy load with auto level. At least the spring wont bottom out. There is also a advantage if you have auto leveling, for instance if you want to lower your ride. You only need to change the front spring and the rear it will auto level by itself. Go for it since you have all the option you never know if you need to load a ton of audio system in the back. hahaha

So does auto-leveling rear suspension work with Adaptive Drive or does Adaptive Drive delete auto-leveling rear suspension?

PS - I am talking about the xDrive50i

I think the OP is referring to adaptive drive when he says auto leveling supspension.

@Batke, what is the deal with the 2011 ordering? my dealer keeps saying soon. I thought last week I was going to order.

The 2011 model can be ordered already even though its not yet on the BMW website. Your dealer can do the order. If he cant, get another dealer. I ordered mine last week.

About the 2011 ordering. Last Friday my sales rep. called me and gave me the MY2011 Product Guide. I sat down and made the 2011 X6 xDrive50i with the new options. In the guide it states that the production for 2011 X6 will begin in April 2010. It also states that (well in Canada anyways) the xDrive50i has a new set of default wheels. Listed as: 20" Y-Spoke Style 336. I really wanted to scan these pages in for you to read, but it states "For use within BMW Organization only" and I don't want to get my sales rep. in any trouble. One thing I did note was that the document did mention the Technology Package: Lane Departure Warning & Active Cruise Control but it did not say anything about Side View Camera's (a la 7-Series). It still states: Rear View Camera with Top View under the Executive Package (remember this is Canadian options).

So in short, to answer your question, I chose my options and gave them to the dealer but I am not sure when the actual ordering will take place.

Not really, any dealer can say they are ordering a car, but just flat out lie most times.

Most likely those who claim to have a 2011 on order, are on a list and when the dealer can order a 2011, they will put your order in.

You know you have an order in when you have all completed documents and a VIN number.

If someone says it took 8 months to order their car I laugh. It took 8 weeks, no order was in the first 6 months.

So did the dealer take your order & submit it? Or did the dealer just take your order & will submit it when ordering opens? Do you have a VIN or can you track anything yet on the BMW Owners Circle website?

my dealer basically said the same thing " we can take the order anytime" but that's not the same thing as reserving a actual production slot and placing build order with BMW. still waiting to place real order.
@batke, really curious what the dealer was showiing you. doesn't sound right to me. but what do i know. all i know is i am growing to regret my decision to wait for 2011.

Why are you regretting ordering a 2011? The wait?

I asked my sales rep about that package, giving the 7RR code and everything, and after he asked his people I was told that 7RR was only on the xDrive35i and it only adds 26HP. That info sounds incorrect when you compare it to what people have posted here but if that's what the dealer tells me what can I do? I am sure I will have more than enough hp in the Twin Turbo V8. Canada gets the shaft with a lot of car options here. I am not sure why. Oh and another thing that bugs me is that on www.bmw.ca it states that the xDrive50i has 2 TwinScrolls. I thought that only the X6 M had 2 TwinScrolls and the xDrive50i has TwinTurbo. Can anyone confirm this?
