So you have to brake the blue strip of the original.

The carbon stripe you have to broken too from the performance.

it's actually quite good with a large screwdriver. it is important that the plastic sleeves not go broke here. if you have the screws you can with small panes and defeated the blue strip fix.

you need to make it fine 2 hours.

I will create a manual with pictures and post to the forum.

here's a picture.
Hi Mate,

just wanted to know if you managed to posted the process and removal of the blue strip

Im very keen to do this on my car

Thanks

Susbscribing to this thread, since I guess the steps are same for installing other trims as well.

Also let me know if any of you are planning to replace your trim with mperf and looking to sell your trim, if your current trim has red on it (gloss black with red strip or aluminium with red strip).

Jason from GetBMWParts says yes, F30 Kit fits F36.

Since my dealer screwed up my order and put burl wood instead of Aluminum Hex, I ordered the CF kit. My car shows up in a week or so, so I'll update this and let you know.

A little nerve wracking because I'll probably get my car post-return policy, but I really can't stand wood interiors.

anyone know how big the box is?

pricing in the US is a lot better than Canada. Thinking of just bringing it back on my next trip as a carry on.

Should get mine tomorrow, will measure the box if you're still interested. Right now it's 30% off all BMW parts including performance parts from my dealer... Paid $750 for this kit. Every time I go I have to leave my credit card behind or I'll buy something else for my car. Lol

Edit: got my kit today. It looks amazeballs! So glad I did this. the box is actually quite small. 39" x 14" x 6". So you could take it on a plane as carry on. Installation wise I found the dash components very easy. The door handles on the other hand were tricky, as there is a metal spring catch inside a slot that you have to press with a screw driver at an awkward angle at the bottom and underneath the door handle. Also the clips we're really tight on mine and while getting them off I thought I was going to break one. Managed to avoid that.

Really struggling removing the door handle trim... I was able to remove the drivers side trim but it took a ton of effort. Also, when I put the CF trim on, it didn't seem to sit as flush with the door as the stock trim. Any tips? Did anyone get installed at dealer? If so, how much did they charge for just the door trim?

I found the door trims to be a real pain in the ass. There is a small square hole underneath at the bottom corner. Inside that there is a metal tab that holds the main bottom plastic stay on the door handle trim in place. There is also another notch about 1/3rd of the way up on the handle underneath. I found that you have to pry open the notch (I used a plastic bike pry tool) and then while depressing the metal tap through the square hole (with a small flat screw driver) lift the bottom section up. You need plenty of light (head torch is very handy) to see If the plastic stay is still caught by the metal tab.

It's tricky to get the metal tab depressed enough to get the plastic stay passed it. On one handle I just couldn't and ended up bending the metal tab up to the point that the plastic stay got passed it. The plastic stay didn't break, so I got away with it.

My door trims are also not as well fitting as the walnut trim was. Before putting on the door trims, run a blunt edge down the door handle rubber/plastic to make sure it is not raised. That seems to help make them match closer and be more flush.

Hope that helps.

If they made this kit with the glossy/smooth finish, I'd probably spring for one. As nice as this one looks, I'd prefer the smoother texture.

Anyone have this installed in a 4 series? Interested to see how it looks with the accent trim extending to the door in the F30 LCI like it does in the current F32 and F36. Debating on whether it would look better with piano black accent or chrome accent (I think a blue stripe on the doors only wouldn't look great).

Does the M Perf Trim come with the metal clips or do I need to use the old ones?

The metal clips that attach the pieces

Anyone know?

I am thinking about fitting this to my M135i. The one answer I can't seem to find is how does it standard up to daily use. Is it more resistant to scratches compared to say the brushed aluminium, which seems to scratch if you just look at it funny. If and when it does scratch is it as noticeable? It would be greatly appreciated if someone could answer this. I know the kit is different to the F20 but essentially the same materials.

It's held up fine after 2 yrs of daily use, the carbon weave is resistant to scratches & fingerprints. The only hassle is maintaining alcantara as passengers often like to touch it when they get in the car.

I usually lay warm damp towels on top of the alcantara, brush it with a new toothbrush & vacuum any particles. For optimum results use a Alcantara solution & special brush to restore the napp
