Meh, seems fine. 255's on the back produce more tyre noise than the 225's but not an enormous difference. Wind noise is fine and far better than the E90, which really got noisey after 100mph. Thing is, 90% of our roads in the UK are fucked, so it's tyre noise that's the issue, not wind. Get it into Europe and on the nice modern, regulation quiet motorway tarmac and it's lovely quiet! RARELY get this tarmac in the UK.

Consider yourself lucky with one of the wind tight F30's. Over 80 kph I get obtrusive wind noise at the top of my b-pillar. I got the car in March 2013 and they have yet to be able to fix it. Neither of my e90's had wind noise at all. Road noise is really dependent on the road surface and varies from quiet to moderately intrusive, but it is the wind noise that is most bothersome. Both my wife and I are continuously pulling on the window buttons to try to close them tighter.

This appears the best review on the net of the 328i....
Im mulling over the 328i or the 330D
Before I pull the trigger and splash out £20k on a 328i
Can you advise me about the mpg you are getting?
I can not find any evidence about what to MPG to expect
BMW state 44mpg but if I could get 40 then I would get the 328 and save the extra £2500 it costs to get the 330D
any advice greatly appreciated
Thanks

Motorway - 39-41mpg.
Knocking around 35-37mpg.
Cold knocking around - 32-35mpg.
Driving like a twat - 27-21mpg.
No, really driving like a twat - 22-25mpg.

It's good, but honestly, get the 330d.
That does 45-48mpg whether you coax it or boot it.

Thanks for the update...
to be honest I feel the end is on the cards for diesels now
The recent VW and now Audi scandal will put many off so its possibly a 328i for me...although not as fast there are no DPF issues
Just an opinion

I was looking into buying a 328i wagon and went to test drive one. The first thing I noticed when I sat in the car is how far the driver door panel protrudes into the footwell. It didn't allow me to spread my legs out and was very uncomfortable pushing into my leg.. Did anybody else have a problem with this? I am 6'2" 215lbs.

Thanks for this old review thread! I’m thinking of selling my ‘11 328i (E92 LCI) for a F30 328i, preferably the M sport. Why? Just because of the more aggressive looking front and rear bumper.

As I’ve been looking around at F30’s, I’ve noticed that most 328i’s don’t have the halos/xenon projector headlights, even the M sports which most come with cold weather package and a lot of other packages I can’t recall. What should I be looking for (specifically referring to the packages name) if I want the OEM halos/xenon lights in the car?

Lighting Package.

Btw, the 2011 E92 looks sweet...still turn my head when I see one on the road.

Not sure if it's adaptive headlights. All i know is it comes with the standard BMW halos, projector bixenons. I guess lighting package makes sense lol. Thank you, I love the E92 but I'm really digging the F30. It's really hard letting go of the E92, specially the LCI with every single light bulb in and out of the car being LED, but I plan on coming back to a E92 (M3 hopefully) in a few years.

The F30 is quite the looker too lol. Just curious - how many miles on your e92?

Thanks for the detailed review. It made me even more enthusiastic about the drive home in my 440i.

Barely use the paddle shifters or sequential shifter like DS, but on the small occasion I did, they were fabulous! Feel really good and super quick. It's also nice just to know they are there so you can take over at any point.
Once you get used to the paddle shifters, you may use them more. Even in Drive mode, you can use them to drop a couple of gears going into a corner, or entering or exiting a motorway.

If you have it in DS mode, using the paddles will put the car into full manual mode, and you will have to flick the shift lever into D to go back into automatic. However, if you're in D mode, it will automatically return from manual to auto.

If you pull and hold the left paddle, it will downshift to the lowest available gear.

I found the standard seats in the F30 to be very unsupportive and flat, and also rather uncomfortable. Upgrading to the Sport Seats was an imperative following that. My god, they're bloody excellent! I had them in my E90 too and they were brilliant in that but they're even better in the F30!
One of the biggest improvements on the F3x sport seats is the squared-off corner on the edge of the side bolster. The E9x had almost a knife edge on the front of the bolster, which was famous for premature wear from getting into and out of the car.

That's not much at all! Easily another 81k miles could go on that engine, plus more.

Yea probably. I see that your car has the cold weather package. Does that mean you get heated seats for front and back AND a heated steering wheel?

Yup - front + back seats + steering wheel heated. That's one package that has really spoiled me. And the lighting package. I could probably live without the tech package.

In the US, all three are heated with the Cold Weather Pkg on the 3 series. Of all places, Canada should have all three heated!

That’s awesome. I’ve never owned a car with a heated steering wheel. Besides the halos, what’s included in the lighting package? And the tech package? Is there a link or source I can find to describe what each package has instead of bombarding you with questions? Lol thanks for your time man

Let me Google it for you boss!

Here's a link to the package options: http://www.bmwblog.com/2011/11/23/20...-and-packages/

Scroll all the way down and click on the photo gallery to see snapshots of the details of the various packages.
