I'll speak to my experience.
Only issues I've had are an exterior trim piece replaced due to some corrosion and my idrive screen replaced due to faulty backlight. Both under factory warranty.
There aren't really any "to look for" items that I know of.

My average MPG is 13.8. I typically drive around my local town, as mines is not a daily driver. So short stop and go trips and the occasional track day tow a couple times a year.

If its clean, and well maintained, I say go for it. I like the color combo, and the price seems good....just not sure what options it has overall.

I love mine. I came from an E55 AMG and an F150 pickup. I wanted back to one vehicle with some sport and utility... and this fits the bill nicely. An X5M would have been perfect, considering the power I was used to on the AMG, however, that was above my price limit.

I have had no major issues to speak of yet, I get 16.4mpg average highway and city mix. I have an e60 m5 and a lifted jeep and the x5 is my vehicle of choice. Although on 22" wheels the ride is rough. It does surprise me that it came this stiff from the factory. But handles very well for a larger SUV.

I have a 2009 4.8 and have to say that it is quite fun to drive. Lots of pickup and handles well for a heavy truck.

There were a few things that were fixed on it. There was a recall for a gas gauge problem, where the needle wouldn't go up to the "1" (full) level. There are two sensors in the gas tank that need to be replaced. Once that was done it was fine. This is a common problem because the previous X5 I had also had the same issue (same model year, but was a 3.0 so that doesn't make any difference).
The speaker/amplifier somehow blew out and those had to be replaced. Otherwise, the truck is running great.

However, be prepared to fill it up frequently as it is a thirsty truck. Average MPG is only about 14mpg mix city and hwy. I did drive it 700 miles to the Canadian border and back, and averaged 22mpg all highway doing between 65-75mph.

Is it a CPO vehicle or there is no warranty on it anymore?

I had a 2007 4.8i fully loaded with sport package. As the other have said it drives great. However, my experience was not good as far as reliability. Nagging battery drain issues, rear suspension replaced, aircon replaced, sway bars replaced and the list goes on. I had a total of 18 weeks of shop time over 5 years!! I would get a CPO for sure. If you get the 20" wheels just be forewarned the X5 eats tires. I loved the truck, but like I said reliability was not good (first model year gremlins ). I was fortunate to have a good dealer that took care of me. I would have the suspension checked both front a rear shocks and satellites (mine replaced twice), front sway bar actuator motor if it has active steering, rear diff for leaking, fresh alignment, charging test, also test the rear hatch strut along with the standard used car checks. good luck.

I have a 2008 4.8i with most options including sports package (20" wheels).

Overall: It has been a great experience so far. The handling is great -- a normal SUV cannot compare to this. I do have summer and winter 20" wheel & tire sets.

Repairs: Just checked my service records. Had very few problems over 5 years (but I have only done 34,000 miles). All covered by warranty, but (from worst) they been CID replacement (iDrive screen dark) ; condensor leak fixed (impacted A/C); rear view mirror replaced (due to compass not working); passenger side visor replaced; peeling headlight switch replaced; and finally one front daylight running light replaced. So actually VERY few problems...

Negatives: As mentioned already, it just eats through the 20" tires. I have continued to use the Run-Flat tires so my ride may be a bit harsher than some might like. Average mpg is only 14 but that's due to the way I drive

My dad's previous X5 (he has a 2012 now) was a 2008 and he put more than more than 105K miles on it. Only one major issue during this entire time. His was a diesel with the M Sport package and 20" wheels. He used it as a pickup truck. Nothing this truck wouldn't do.

I took it to Italy and back this summer and got 24.5mpg average.

I echo these comments. My 2007 4.8i has just over 100,000 km on it and no significant issues. It's a fantastic trick however I came from an E92 M3 and miss the "M" DNA - that motor-sports heritage that is in each M car. The truck you showed looks to be good value. I bought mine a year ago 2007 fully loaded including every option but comfort seats and paid close to $40,000.
