p21a8 reductant level sensor "b" circuit - 2012 x5d

Hey Guys,

Need some advice.

I'm just shy of 100,000km and out of warranty and getting this code. p21a8 reductant level sensor "b" circuit on my 2012 x5d

Been happening for a few months now, just been putting it off. Some research shows thats its just burning more DEF. I have had to add DEF more often.

There is a company called xenmodex in mississauga, canada that fixes DEF tanks, but i'm not sure if this is the active or passive tank. Do both tanks have these sensors?

debating if i should take it to the dealer for diagnostics as i've seen posts of tanks been upwards of $2500 USD to replace.

Thanks

turns out it was the passive tank level sensor.

def was leaking out from one of the connectors, which had also corroded one of the connectors that sits outside of the tank. ended up getting a used tank installed problem solved.. for now..
