Which brand did you go with? I was thinking of using Duplicolor high temp caliper paint but wasn't sure if it was self etching or not

I guess I will have to have the dealer look at it as I wouldn't have a clue.
Although since this started happening immediately after installation of the dash cam I am thinking the battery was weak'ish to begin with and it got drained more by the camera when it was on when parked. |

Went with PPG branded paint. Full automotive level paint. The stuff in spray cans never seem to hold up very well. Especially the end finish but in the end you pay for it as you'll have over 200+ dollars in paint vs 20 to 30 in can form.

Yeah I kept them. Worked out well since I was able to swap them and can now sell the bmc's to someone. Only two more small items to part out and then only the big stuff remains. Speaking of which you owe me a pm soon about that. |

Haha good one.
Having some issues with my X5M ever since the dash cam install. First the battery issue which hasn't completely gone away. But this morning when I started it up it had the engine light on it. As I was heading to the dash cam place to get the fitment moved anyway, I got them to look at the codes. Apparently it's throwing 4-5 different codes like brake fluid maybe low, turbo charger issue, some other issue etc. Booked it in at the dealership tomorrow morning to have it looked at. Glad I got extended warranty. |

I don't even know how to reach the battery on this. It's apparently stuck way under the trunk.
Also today noticed some weird solar panel device under my trunk mat. Do other people have this as well? It's not plugged in anywhere. I am trying to figure out if it's a part of the car of if it was left behind by the previous owner as something completely unrelated. |

Ah that makes sense I guess. Suppose I have a free one of those then.
But since the vehicle had been sitting for a while that they needed to use this, it would make a more sense as to why the battery throws errors now. So funny thing, drove the car at lunch today to grab something. The battery sign that had been coming came on but no engine light this time. Drove it for a bit and turned it off. Got back in battery sign gone (as it usually goes after a bit of driving) and no engine light either. This is so damn ridiculous. I still plan to take it to the dealer in the morning as the camera place did tell me the codes their scanner pulled but I am worried that without an actual engine light on the dash they may not look at it. |
