Talking Who has the highest mileage x5m here?

I am in the market for an x5m after my M3 has been totaled. Looking for something unique and fun - always love the e70 body style!

My budget is under $40,000, so I am looking at a 50-70,000 mile X5M which is slightly concerning to me because I don't know what all can go wrong with these vehicles. My question now is, how many miles do you have on your X5M? How many issues have you had with it so far?

I'm selling my 2010 currently. It's got 89km or 55k miles. Car is in great shape with nothing wrong with it. These are very strong mechanically. Just gotta stop on top of maintenance.

Mine is a 2010 with 64,000 miles and has never really had any major issue.

Cooling hose $280
Air shocks $790
Vacuum lines under warranty
Some suspension bushing under warranty
One battery replacement
On second brake pads
Third set of tires

They drive so much better than other X5 models and are a kick to enjoy in the twists. Love mine.

Thanks! That doesn't sound bad at all.

There is one on ebay with 125k. Of course who knows the history of it.
That is the highest I recall seeing for sale since I started looking.

Hopefully you are looking for a different setup than I am :P

I have a '10 X5m which I bought used with 50k milles on it. After 1.5yrs I now have 68k miles on it. Here's what I've done so far:

Aftermarket warranty Covered:

Tailgate Lift Motor $1050
Parking Distance Sensor $400
Injector and Spark Plugs $4500
O2 Sensor $480
Front Bushings $400

Out of Pocket:

PVC Ventilation Hose $2000
AC Fluid $200

Truck is awesome but not without the BMW issues, so get a warranty.

81k miles bought it at 66k miles and out of warrenty

Honestly haven't had any major problems, few minor issues here and there but nothing major ... had to replace a few injectors but I DIY so it wasn't bad ... and they are covered under warranty now.

Still pulls hard

I understand the BMW issues fully! May I ask, how much did you pay for your warranty?

What warranty did you get? Any hassles? Why wouldn't they cover the PVC hoses?

So the warranty is actually through GM since I bought the x5m there. It was pricier than some of the ones offered by Route 66 but I've heard there is a lot of ambiguity on whether Route 66 covers x5ms or not.

My aftermarket warranty cost me $3000 for 3 years / 36k miles. I have had no issues with them and have been very pleased with their coverage. Everything was covered except for the crankcase vent valve pipes because the policy states it any parts considered emissions related are excluded.

if they consider those parts "emissions related" shouldn't they be covered by the 8 year/80,000 mile "Emissions Warranty" by BMW?

Good point but BMW did not covered it after numerous inquiries and they have no say in the aftermarket warranty company's decision. Coincidentally there is a service bulletin on the pipes for the s63 engines that recently came out so I am hoping to recoup the money.

I have just under 80K on mine. I wouldn't touch one without a warranty! I have over 45K in repairs (warranty), a huge chunk of that came from replacing the engine however. I still love the thing, but there's no way I'll keep this past the extended warranty when I reach 100K.

Biggest issue with this truck is BMW dealers bending everyone over and raping them hard when they bring it in for any kind of issue ... This alone is the only major problem with this truck.

Honestly think unless you DIY or have deep pockets to pay BMW stay away from the X'M series ... I'm sure this holds true for any M though

Jesus man I can't understand why this would cost $1000... these crank case hoses literally cost about $150 bucks all together and take less than an hour to change ... they are a pain in the ass to change though

Depends on the hoses that are bad. Parts alone can't run around $700 depending on the lines...

I also had leaks coming from these guys:

Bought my first M in June.

The other car in the garage is an Alpina B3 .

I got what I think is a steal of a deal. Had it inspected at the local BMW dealership without any major concerns or imminent repairs due.

It is a 2010 with just over 90K miles. I'll be surprised if I put 3,500 miles per year on it, I don't drive much, but it has been a blast to drive around so far.
