F85 to E70 X5M Transmission swap
Title says it ... Anyone ever attempt this or know someone that has?
This would be an entire swap including the DCT style shifter, I can't stand we don't have the DCT style shifter. Looking at diagrams on realoem seems it should mate with the engine just not sure how it would work with the electronics gaining additional gears. |

Tried something similar with a z4 and ended up dropping the project after 2 years of trying to get it to work. It would "drive" but their was no connection between The engine and trans if you know what I mean. Like a disconnect somehow. But with that car you had much more simple mechanical connections, which these it's all digital witchcraft ! So good luck . |

I've discussed this idea as well, would love to see it pan out. Soon enough the transmission is going to be my weak point...even after a flush & fill it'll sometimes shift much harder than normal.

This would be a daunting undertaking at best; coding would be the smallest worry vs. programming the ECU, never mind any actual bolt-up issues. But would love if someone other than me gave it a whirl.
