Highest mileage X5M
Hello I currently own a 2013 X5M with 45k miles. The car has been fantastic and I'm coming up to the dreaded 50k mark. I've been debating whether to trade it in for something more fuel efficient yet powerful versus keeping this and getting an extended warranty versus keeping it and not getting the warranty.
I haven't seen too many of this generation model with high mileage and was curious 1) what's the highest mileage x5m Around ? 2) is the extended warranty worthy if I plan to keep this car ? I drive about 20k miles a year :/ gas prices have come down which makes me lean towards keeping it , but I want an EV tho |

So let's say I do get an extended warranty that should cover me to 100k miles, what are the typical warranty costs? So basically I have about 2.5 years of driving(since I do about 20k miles per year) . In those two and a half years of owning it , how much scheduled maintenance work in dollar figures can I expect to spend ? Not including any unexpected work, since I don't know how much BMW charges for typical routine stuff. Thanks in advance

I wonder if anyone ever factors in depreciation cost of purchasing a new vehicle? Trading in your X5M for a new one would probably lose you about $30k in the first year or so. If you keep your M for another two years, you may have a few thousand in repairs, but isn't that considerably less than the depreciation on the new ride? You could always sell yours and find another with less miles, but don't forget you have taxes and fees too. My X5 has 62000 miles and runs great!

just been tempted to go electric, Tesla, since my trade in value can offset some taxes along with the tax credit of a tesla and the fuel & maintenance savings, I have been debating this issue for some time. Partly because I don't want two vehicles and I drive 20+K miles a year. Need to decide soon Has anyone here experienced the ride of a tesla?

the other alternative option I have considered is downgrade to a brand new x3 which has better fuel efficiency and 4 years of free maintenance work and new warranty without having to pay much more out of pocket since it's a 2013 x5m. Plus I wouldn't have to purchase an extended warranty on current vehicle and spend twice more on gas ....decisions decisions.... :/

2013 X5M 108k miles, warranty ran out back in November when I hit 100k
u should be fine with u milage for at least 3-4 years, buy a warranty for piece of mind! I service my car at Indy and usually buy my own parts, luckily car was trouble free and only things I had to do is maintenance.

Since it was bumped....
My 2010 is at 118 and change, and no warranty. Granted, I do all of my work myself, and I work for a wholesale OEM parts supplier, so I have great discounts there. Plus I have added bonus that my dad is shop foreman at a euro shop, and one of his techs just came from years at the BMW dealer, so he can answer any odd questions I have. Oh, and I have 3 other cars to drive if I need to have it down for a bit. |
