Considering how rare AD is to find on diesels I've pretty much taken that off my list. I did find a platinum/black sport package with contour seats both heated and ventilated for $32k with just over 70k on it. Miles are high but has extended warranty remaining till 2016 or 100k and just got new tires. Talking with owner now to get more details.

Thanks all for the comments on hitch setup ...

One pending question - is it a good deal for the options ?

Good deal - No
Fair deal - Yes

Frankly I think you can get a lot more options for $38k with a tad more on the clock. If mileage is more important than options than this might be the deal for you. If you could talk the guy down to $35-36k range then I'd say you are getting a good deal.

Having come from a E60 M5 as well, you want the AD. It's what makes the X5M as agile and fun to drive. AD simple put defies the laws of physics for a heavy SAV. Keep hunting till you find it.

Just made an offer on a 2011 35d sport that's pretty well loaded including HUD with 72k on the clock and factory warranty until 2016. We'll see if I can close a good deal on it or not.

factory warranty expires at 50K miles. Did you mean CPO?

Sorry. Yes, it has the CPO warranty for 100k or 2016 with maintenance plan. no Oyster interior but for a good price I'm willing to do black.

This one has been on the market for sometime. 56K miles. Started at $39K, and now down to $33.8K, with CPO. Looks decently optioned - comfort access, active seats, 3rd row seats. Great price, IMO.

This has CPO coverage, so you get extended warranty for 2 years. And I'm sure you can buy a maintenance plan for this vehicle (FYI - many in this forum and others discourage buying of the BMW maintenance plan. the extended warranty is the more important component, the maintenance plan, less so).

This price is really tempting...but my thinking is to drive for 3 years and sell it. If it has a warrant left at that time it is easy to sell.

So looking for 35K less mileage ....

Are you asking us to post the options or just check them out?

I see…

Early 2011 (6/23/2010) build so no LED coronas
Platinum Gray/Black leather/bamboo trim
Sport package w/ optional 20's (style 214)
Premium package
Cold weather package
Active ventilated seat package
Premium sound package
Aluminum running boards
Lane departure warning
HUD
Auto high beams

Lots of good stuff there, though high miles. 27K sounds fair, but I not up to speed on X35d prices.

Talked with the owner and he counter offered but think I could take it for $28k.
Truck is CPO and has both warranty and service contract with a year left. Few other things it has:

Factory Tow Hitch
New Tires
Complete UREA Tank and System replaced
New rear Brakes
Weathertech Matts
Spare Tire setup

Overall I think this is a pretty decent deal with all the goodies and a well packaged car. Mileage is higher but I think it's offset.

Debating whether or not I should pull the trigger or wait it out.

ehh, personally, I'll pass on that one. The mileage is very high. You can get one with 50k miles for $33k with warranty.

If anyone is interested in a 2012 X5 50i with AD, this one just popped up today:

http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/de...6924/overview/

Seems very well optioned, and should have factory warranty for 5K miles/6 months (based on production date).

mine is a 2011 x5d and the offset is more to the drivers side as the plug assembly is on that side. personlly i could care less. i bought the vehicle specifically as a tow rig for my e46 track car.

Yeah but that's $5k more in sales price in comparison. My thought is that I'd have to have $5k in repairs over 22k miles to equal this deal. I also just confirmed that this diesel just had over $5k done to it to certify it. Ideally I'd like to score a deal under $30k and based on that budget I'm looking around the 60-65k mileage mark with less equipped vehicle. If I was looking at 50i it would be a different story but 35ds well optioned are hard to come by.

Thanks but not interested in 50i. That engine will inevitably have reliability issues in the long term not to mention fuel mileage is crap for road trips.

my view is paying $5k more for a similar CPO car with 20k less miles is worth it. You'll get more coverage and a substantially better quality car that basically has 2 less years of wear and tear on it (all things equal based on average annual mileage of 10k per year)

You make some good points. The only issue is that Ive set my budget at $30k which brings me to the reason for considering. I know that another $3-5k will buy me a newer car but frankly with all the projects at the house going on it just doesn't make sense. Also as an FYI this truck would see maybe 5-7k worth of use a year hiking trips and other small vacations.
