Dinan stage 2 upgrade for 2012 50i

Dinan is running a 50% sale.

https://www.dinancars.com/product/d9...ries&mid=1128/

Anyone has it on their N63? Opinions? 95hp boost & 129 lb-Ft torque worth the $1500+?

I have a 201150i with a dinan stage 2 and could tell a huge difference between 1 and 2 in regards to delivery of power. Definitely not the same as my X5M, someone described it as a 'violent' acceleration and I thought that was pretty accurate -- either way a huge difference from stock. I don't have experience with many other tunes, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it again for what it's worth..

Dude thanks for posting !!! That's a pretty big discount!!

Be nice to upgrade the 35i to get that 400ftlbs of torque !!!!

Only 650 bucks! Man.... has anybody used them with the 35i ?

Worried though as I have 120k miles on mine, with that increase I'd better start replacing some stuff.

Though if I'm not on it all the time it should be fine.

thank you for the response. Should I be concerned about the extra wear/tear on the engine, or is it not a big deal? Very tempted and might pull the trigger..

take a look at the 135i forum, several accounts of the dinan tune on the N55. You might find it useful.

Depends on how you drive it? I have about 85k miles on my 2011 -- replaced injectors and a couple other things under warranty but noting too much more than the general N63 issues to this point and I am NOT afraid to get on it when I have the chance...

I got the tune installed a couple of days ago. It has transformed the car a lot. Any hint of throttle lag has completely disappeared. More importantly, the transmission downshifts/upshifts at lower gears is buttery smooth now. The car seems to take off faster from a stop and climb hills now without needing to downshift. I don't know if it's putting out the numbers promised by Dinan, though.

Bumping this thread - Dinan E70 LCI software prices have been reduced even beyond the 50% discount that started this thread.

For the 50i, stage 2 - $926.70! It was originally almost 3K, then on sale earlier this year for $1500ish. Bumps HP to 494, torque to 579.
https://www.dinancars.com/product/d9...ries&mid=1128/

For 35i owners - I don't know what the price was prior as I never paid it any attention, but the current price for Stage 2 is $752.63. Bumps HP to 355, torque to 401.
https://www.dinancars.com/product/d9...ries&mid=1145/

Damn, this is almost too much to pass up - the 50i gains are substantial.

Holy crap! I paid $1600 in Feb

This is ridiculous pricing - 50i owners should jump on it.

The 35i tune was on sale for about $650, so this is worse.

I'm not sure if the Dinantronics Sport is the same as these, but 40hp and 70ftlbs sounds good to me for $299. +40hp = 305hp +70ftlbs=490ftlbs

120k, now is the time to the pull the trigger. Make that 35i run next to a stock 50.

Bumping this thread again as Dinan E70 LCI software is on sale again, even cheaper than their last sale.

For the 50i, stage 2 is $695.03 (normally $926.70...though it was $3000 just a year or 2 ago). Bumps HP to 494, torque to 579.
https://www.dinancars.com/product/d9...eries=&mid=X5/

For the 35i, stage 2 is $564.47 (normally $752.63). Bumps HP to 355, torque to 401.
https://www.dinancars.com/product/d9...eries=&mid=X5/

My 50i is going into the dealer this Friday for a warranty repair...considering maybe/finally doing this while it's in there?

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts.

I had my dealer install Stage 2 a few days ago. Normal driving I don't notice much difference which is good, I didn't want a touchy pedal, but push down on the pedal and the power difference is immediate and noticeable - it just surges through the gears.

Still, too much traffic and wet weather so far to really open it up yet, so the jury is still out, but so far so good.

Is the gain the same for the 2013 X5 M-Sport 50i? The 13' X5 50i M-Sport has 440hp, so with the Dinan Stage 2 add 94hp, 440+95 = 535hp? or is it still 494hp even on the 2013 X5 50i M-Sport?

The 2013 50i M Sport has 440HP ONLY if it has the rare & optional M Performance Package - in that case yes, 440 HP/480 Torque. If it doesn't have M Performance, it has the standard 400 HP/450 Torque.

You would need to contact Dinan to confirm, but their website has always read:

Special Note: Some 2013-2014 vehicles are not supported at this time. Please see your local Dinan Dealer for programming compatibility.

I always assumed this was referring to the 2013 M Performance Package equipped X5's, but again you'd have to confirm with Dinan.

I spoke to Dinan when I ordered my DIY. The tech said it would be the advertised 494 regardless of the M performance package. And I thought the numbers for the performance package where 415/460???

Interesting. I guess Dinan's tune overrides the M Performance upgrade?

The M Performance Package adds 40 HP & 30 TQ to the 50i (440 HP/480 TQ), and 15 HP & 30 TQ to the 35i (315 HP/330 TQ).

I have the M-Performance package on my 13' X5 M-Sport. I like the power it has now but I'm not sure the extra 50 hp would be noticeable but the 100 lbs of torque might be. I'll keep it stock for now. Thanks for the feedback.
