I really believe a radar detector by itself is not much help in my area.
Show us your pics of the jammers installed. I have an STi-R and that's the only one you should run in Ontario. Thinking of the ALP's also. but concerned about stealth.

I'm using a 9500ix that I've had for a few years now and works great. It pays to know what law enforcement uses in your state and buy accordingly.

My next detector will probably be a Singer VIP.

I haven't personally experienced the bluetooth module, I actually prefer using the control pad instead of running my phone on the dash. Currently, you can only plug in either the Bluetooth or the control pad, not both at the same time unless you buy a switch. However, I have heard that a new version of the bluetooth module are in the works which will allow the control pad to plug into the blutooth module, so that would be a great solution when it becomes available.

You have seen my install right? I think it's decently stealthy, don't think ON needs rear sensors, so you can just go for a duel setup for the front

The stinger VIP is balling, but I don't think most people can justify the price of the unit which is at least twice of a good detector plus ALP combo. I personally don't like the VIP's touch screen control display, my idea way of controlling a system of this type is still via hard buttons

The up and coming remote mount radenso HD+ also looks very promising, hope ALP can come out with the graphics display soon as well, which would make integrating ALP and a radar module a lot more appealing to me

No I have not seen your install. Can't seem to find your pics. They don't show up.

the lens is right against the back of the grill, so it's not that recessed. I haven't had many cases of extremely off axis shots, but in all of my real life encounters ALP has saved me every time. the rear is ran via the usual cable route in the door seals, and than up the rear D pillar into the tailgate. yes i had to drill holes for the rear sensors

I only seem to be able to attach 1 photo per post. Anyways here is a shot of my interior with the radar detector control mounter between I drive know and armrest. The display for the radar is in the mirror.

The front laser shifters are about the same location as AudiR8fan has his.
I have not installed my rear shifters. I'll get around to it eventually .

I have the V1 radar detector and so far since I've had it I only had 1 encounter where it picked up on a New York State Trooper shooting radar (K Band )at me...it notified me a good 2 miles ahead of where he was hiding.

I have a question for those of you with more knowledge with radar and laser detectors/jammers...every so often when driving on the highway only, the V1 goes crazy for 2-3 seconds then stops...would someone ahead, behind or traveling in the opposite direction of me with laser jammers installed in their car make my radar detector go crazy for that brief couple of seconds?

Proclip, they sell them as 2 piece units. Choose a vehicle specific mount and then the phone holder.

My current setup is basically a windshield mounted radar detector along with a full ALP setup, this means that the 2 units are completely separate and do not work together. I think what you are talking about is the radar integration option, which I currently don't have. The hifi module is not required, but I would not go without it as it will announce a lot more information than just different tones of beeps out of the standard cset. Also no need for a switch as the control pad buttons do everything that's needed.

For us to know your problem better, it would be a lot more helpful if you can let us know what what the display tells you when it goes crazy, such as what band radar or laser, the direction, and the signal strength. Also does this always happen at the same place or when you are following the same car?

I haven't personally seen a case where a laser jammers causes any issues with a detector as most of the time the laser jammers aren't firing their laser diodes unless it sense incoming laser.

If I were to guess what you are encountering is most likely falsing issues, either against some blind spot monitoring systems or radar/laser guided cruise controls.

I've had my V1 (with upgrades) for years. I have have had so many saves with it. I think it's still the best option out there. Can't do without the arrows.

I see this too where the V1 goes crazy. I think it's doing a reboot -- all lights come on. I feel that it happens when then there is laser but maybe it is laser jammers causing it. I contacted V1 support on this but they had no idea.

When it goes crazy, the signal strength goes full and the display shows the arrow pointing forward I believe in K Band...it happens in different locations even if I'm the only car on my side of the highway. I remember reading something about if another car has active laser jammers it could set off the V1 but I just wanted to confirm if this is true.

I always get the same false alerts when i'm near a shopping mall. I'm thinking that the V1 goes crazy for a few seconds (only on the highway) when someone with laser jammers is traveling on the opposite side of the highway then after 2-3 seconds the V1 stops and goes silent

If what you are seeing is a radar signal, it can't be laser jammers. Laser jammers does not produce radar waves, they are base on lasers, which is a light. I say most likely your V1 is falsing on blind spot monitoring systems or radar guided cruise control of other cars. Is your V1 running the latest firmware? newer versions will have better false filtering.
