I have depended on V1 for years but finally got Escort's Redline and am happy with the combination.

I thought V1 was going to break through with the promise of ESP and Savvy, but Escort LIVE has taken the lead for now.

thanks for the replies, but when i look up reviews theres all this talk about lasers, and other stuff and i dont know when exactly to look for, or how to tell which is better. kind of like when you buy a camera.. the 16 megpixels camera would be a better pick opposed to like 13 megapixels or something.

Laser Detector is important, but Laser deflector is Illegal in most states. I have the Escort and it works well but I will get the V1 next time due to the "arrows"

Any advice on a mount and device holder that would work well in the X5 for my iPhone 4S when using Escort LIVE? I don't like clutter for local driving but will load up for trips that are 3K or longer.

Escort Max 360. Just released.

Like Valentine 1's arrows but with Escort's GPS technology.

the max 360 is a bust, it's laggy and buggy

the V1 is loud and annoying unless you setup custom sweep and use the app for gps false lockouts

the newest and most promising detector is called Radenso Pro SE, I'm seriously considering getting rid of my Max for it, I don't like the Max at all

Maybe they worked out their bugs for this 2nd gen edition. This one has arrows.

Not at all, it still falses, as many have experessed on rdforum, they are disappointed in something not performing up to par at such a price point. Also keep in mind that the 360 is massive, so the unit will be very easy to spot

You first need to find out what types of speed measuring devices are used in the area you drive. Try rdforum..org. Then buy a detector that can be customized to ignore the frequencies and/or bands that are not used. I have several. For me I found the escort 9500i/9500ix or Bell 500 pro work just great with near zero false alerts in my state. I don't like detectors that are constantly going off. I use the detectors in combination with the Waze app and have found them to be a great combo. I've had many saves but know their limitations.

Anyone has experience with the Bel? I am looking for a custom install as I would not like one sitting on the windshield. Also the options for laser/lidar jamming.

the STIR+ is a really good detector, but don't bother with the jammers from them, if you want jammers, get ALPs

I have a Valentine which I use occasionally in some of my other cars on the highway but t is almost useless now with so many lasers being used by the cops. I have the Escort 9500ci installed in my x5m with laser jammer. The installer did a nice job integrating it and the jammers has saved me a couple times.

My jammer is the Escort Laser shifter Pro which is already outdated because it won't detect the latest Dragoneye laser guns. I understand the Alberta cops are starting to use these newest weapons. I also want to outfit my Jag with a system as well so maybe I should look at the ALPs.

I really believe a radar detector by itself is not much help in my area.

The shifter pro are laser interceptors from years ago, it's very outdated, the good thing is that the VPR guns aren't really in Calgary yet, but they are being widely deployed in Edmonton, so it will be a matter of time before they get here. ALP is the best way to go, they also constantly updates the firmware to improve preformance with the latest guns, which the end user can easily do with just a USB drive

This.
Used to rely solely on the V1 but they're getting sneakier about placing the "life saving" deterrents (large majority now from the rear), which doesn't give you much warning to drop your speed.

To give some context, they're talking about dropping the minimum limit exceed penalty here from 5km/h over the limit to 3km/h, and taking away demerit points, because we're all apparently exploding ourselves in flaming high-speed wrecks.
I don't know about everyone else, but I tend to drive to the conditions of the road/flow of traffic, which typically means 5-10km/h higher than the blanket-enforced speed limits on our roads. Trying to use cruise control in city traffic just isn't practical.

Having the ALP five-sensor system installed on the bus shortly - has anyone tried the Android plug-in? Apparently it's a bit buggy at the moment and when installed, you have to have the app open for the system to function?
