installing oem strut with cut wire to x5m?

Hi All -- I have a used x5m that I recently bought and the right front strut is bad. Super expensive to replace both L and R with OEM new struts so I was wondering if I could use a strut from same year X5M that another guy replaced with coilovers? The strut is supposed to be fine with low miles, just has the cut wire for the EDC defeat I guess. Can it be spliced while I decide whether to keep the car? If I keep it I will probably do KW V3 this winter. Thx in advance.

Sounds like he is looking to buy a used set but the wires are cut.

cut the wires off your old ones and solder them onto the set with the cut wires... problem solved.

Hoping for that answer.... Bought all 4 corners off a 2012 x5m with 7500 miles that upgraded suspension. Hopefully the connecting will work with no weirdness. This board very much helped me select this particular car (truck?). If I stay in love with this thing, I'll sell what I don't replace super cheap to anyone on the boards that needs them. Will do KW when the CPO runs out in Spring. And then I guess it's a keeper.

there is just 2 wires in the said cable, they connect either way, it's not directional, voltage simply runs through it. however the actual wire is pretty thick, so it's not an easy solider job, get someone good to do it
