Obviously, I'm with doug_999 on the driving technique. Even with AWD, if you power into the turn you can overload the front tires and end up understeering, at which point I'd expect you're going to lift anyway. And in my situation, all 4 had lost traction, so giving more power to any of them probably wasn't going to help until I could feel some grip.

But wholly setting aside that discussion, yeah- 20 mph was pretty stinkin' slow. At that speed, unless on ice or grease, or if there was a problem with the tires, I don't think I could get it sideways even if I was trying.

By the way, doug_999 thanks for the tire suggestions. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare, so I'm trying to stick with the RFTs. But if I continue having no luck finding a different set, I'll probably just switch to the Continentals you mentioned. Seems like they've been well-received on this board.
