Talking My new X6 x50i arrives tomorrow!

At last after a long long wait, my Vermillion red x50i is at the dealer and waiting for me to pick her up tomorrow morning!

Went by today and saw her and they started her up, I just couldn't believe the sound of the engine!

Can't wait to drive it tomorrow. Will post pics tomorrow night.

Got it at last! Haven't managed to take any pics yet, but i'll do that first thing tomorrow.

I've noticed a couple of things I was hoping people could confirm. Firstly the iDrive. My home screen is brown. As I remember from my 3 series coupe it was also brown until they upgraded my software and the home screen became silver.

Is it possible that a brand new X6 comes with such old software or is it just that BMW have reverted back to the brown screen?

Also, this morning the rear camera was working fine. This afternoon when I went to park, I could see the PDC in the right part of the screen, but where I should have been seeing the camera it was just plain black. Hasanyone else had this problem?

Thanks for any help you guys can give me!

my iDrive has the updated modern color palette. No problem with the camera either.

It might be certain markets get other colors for the menus. Not sure.

Thanks for the replies. I asked BMW here and they told me the brown screen was normal. The camera issue hasn't shown up again but they'll check it out next Friday.

Here at last are some of the promised pics! Sorry it's a bit dirty, just got back from Deauville trying to get the break in KMs done!

Thanks for all the nice comments!

Unfortunately one of the rear left speakers is causing an annoying buzz and they told me it has to be replaced! Oh well, apart from that I've never had so much fun driving a car and I haven;t even pushed it hard as i'm still in the breaking in period!

The dreaded Brake Dust on your Rims

Wow, just as I suspected, I won't be using the factory BMW brake pads any longer than necessary. I hate brake dust, and with Ceramic-Metallic pads you can really reduce this. I can't understand why they use pads that generate so much dust at the factory, when better parts are available.

I have not had brake dust issues with any of my BMW's over the years.

My wheels don't look bad until a couple weeks after washing.

Could it be your location? Morning fog? Moisture that atracks so much dust and causes it to stick to the wheels?

My wheels look like crap about a day after washing, always been one of my pet peeves about modern auto technology. They can build a car that will almost find it's own way home but can't make brake pads that don't make the wheels look like crap day after washing.
