And Nope no coding required I got it from bimmer retrofit and it came coded and ready to go, just plugged it in and your good to go. Theirs a few pins you have to change like camera wires and mic pins but it's as plug and play as you could hope for.

Have apple car play full blue tooth advance streaming and phone mirroring. It's a phenomenal upgrade to the existing system.
Sounds like a well worth investment, may I ask how much they charged you for the retrofit kit? Were there any additional wires, tools and etc. required to make the complete swap? New iDrive control knob included or was that something you had to purchase additionally?
Everything out the door was $1700 took advantage of the New Years sale so got like 10% off

The touch controller is included. The only thing I bought extra was the OEM touch computer as it was cheaper with my discount from the dealer. Plugged right in.

Lots of routing and stuff and general tear up, so plan on spending a good part of the day installing the system.

Okay nice, thanks for the heads up. Hopefully there's a DIY out there that'll help me with some guidance

They give you the full instructions when you purchase the system.

And you can always hit me up for questions when you have them.

Loving that idrive retrofit. How did you get the screen to fit? Surely, you must have had to cut into the dash, right?
It looks so well done, like it came from the factory like that.

No cutting required in fact I can go back to stock without any signs it was modified. The screen just fits. Though in my free time I'm working on a bracket that will fill the hole in the back where the old bezel was. You don't really see it but when done it will be very OEM fit and finish.

Loving the infotainment upgrade. Heard its got some cool options and apps. I'm also pretty impressed with the fit. I have a 13 and the upgraded sound system with bluetooth, so I am kind of on the fence with this.

Damn, that ID6 does look good. Once you throw in the new wheel the car will have a whole new look. I didn't think the wheel made it look that old until I saw the pic with ID6 installed.

With the upgraded sound system you would get the whole revamped equalizer system included in the ID6 as well as the improved quality of the newer system. As well as your Bluetooth would be able to show album art and all that jazz.

That retrofit does look great- I just couldnt justify the $1700+ modifications when $400+an hour of install time got me fully functioning idrive on the factory screen. I'd rather rebuild+upgrade my trans/ diffs than spend it on infotainment!
