Towing - Execuhitch
I have seen info here or on outpost regarding Execuhitch. Are they still in business? Tried to get into their website, but no luck. The product for the X5 appears to be amazing and beats the OEM option (IMHO).

I just noticed the same thing last night. A few days ago I was checking out the different options, then today the site is gone. Very interested in getting one for my X5M!

Just spoke with them and the site is getting re-hosted - they had a major glitch. Should be back up today they hope. Looks like there will now be a BMW oem harness option which will be plug and play (will need a reprogram from the dealer).

Thanks for the information - it really is an amazing product. There appears to have been a great deal of thought put into the design and engineering. I want it for my KUAT bicycle carrier, seems overkill, but well worth it!

One of my friends bought the manual one to pull a 25ft boat. He said there was some bad engineering with one of the parts (kept on braking, a bracket or something like that), so the manufacturer after the second fail sent him 3 or 4 spare parts.
Try to find some reviews. |

25' boat might be at the top end of the tow rating by the time you add in fluids, trailer etc.. I know I'm not going to be towing my 25' cabin cruiser with the X5. It's combined weight is close to 10,000 lbs.

I too have had problems. I pulled my boat with it once and then the slide out portion wouldn't come out. I had to unbolt the entire assembly. They sent a new one, but I have not pulled the boat since as I was waiting on the explanation as to why, but it appears the metal fatigued under the strain and bent. I have a heavy boat as well, but they said it would match the factory towing levels. I have the performance body kit so it was a must have.
Disappointing. Also, realize that when you tuck under the bumper your ball mount has a long way to extend back up to where the straight receiver would normally be. That can act as a fulcrum. |

Update! After reading my post Daryl contacted me directly and expressed genuine concern in getting my hitch working properly and apologized for not getting back to me sooner. I had tried to reach him prior to this thread and evidently he had been on vaca for a week or so and my frustration poured out on here.
Daryl shipped me a new receiver and slide that was slightly updated/upgraded from the version they were installing when I got mine 16 months ago. I just pulled my boat (26 foot Cobalt) 300 miles and the ball mount popped right out as promised. My boat weighs about 6500 lbs and with the diesel, into a head wind, i honestly had to slow down at times because I was hitting 90 and got just under 10 MPG. It's hard to believe a vehicle that is that much smaller than my last tow vehicle, a Denali, can handle the boat so well. Leave it to the Germans. Daryl, Thank You! Problem solved, customer service was above and beyond, and as promised the hitch was well worth the money. It's the perfect hitch for the BMW! Since it appears the new BMW option is only going to class III I hope you are all over the new one when it hits. Darren |

I'm from MPLS as well. I would love to get a glimpse of your installed invisi-hitch. There isn't much pictures or videos of people using one. You on the MNBMW forums by chance? |

I just ordered a execuhitch for my m-sport. I too and in the MPLS area. Where did you get yours installed? I bought my car at Motorwerks. Did the dealer install and code yours?

I have a Execuhitch installed on my X6M. I think I was the first to have the X6M version. Customer Service is outstanding and Daryl is very attentive and will work with you. Because mine was coming off prototype some minor revisions had to be made and Daryl and his engineering team worked with me through the process. All in all a good experience and they are genuinely customer service oriented and offer a great quality product.

I have it on my 2012 X5M. I pull my 25;' boat and use it for a bike rack as well. Great Product!!! Loved that I did not have to cut anything!!!

Agree that this hitch is a great product and is clearly invisible. I use a bike rack all the time an occasionally a basket. Have not towed much but see no problem with that I am a structural engineer and the design looks great with respect to getting the load into the frame where it belong.

I love my invisihitch. I've towed all kinds of trailers with it. Always got great customer support from Daryl. No rattling, totally stealth appearance when towbar is removed.
As you can see in the first and last picture, I have both height towbars, so I can tow most trailers as level as possible.
