Gas Mileage 2012 X5 35i

Guys, I have a quick question regarding gas mileage on 2012 E70 (35i) with Msport. No matter what I do my average gas mileage stays below 14mpg. City and/or highway driving. Is this normal. I remember getting close to 16 mpg but the only thing I can remember is the dealer changed my catalytic converter a few months ago. Do you think that could be the issue ?

I get almost 18mpg on my 50i. Not a ton of freeway driving either.

Are you doing actual math, calculating actual miles driven and gallons filled? Or just going by the display value?

Display value says 16.x mpg.

I go by math usually. The few times I filled up, it was between 300-310 for 19.xgal fillup. Boarder line 16

wow. I'm getting around 370 per tank. I just hit 400 for the first time, but that was all freeway miles and the needle below the mark.

14.54 MPG

16.2/3.789 = 4.30 gals
100kms/1.6km/mi = 62.5 miles

62.5 mi/4.3 gals = 14.54

Wow, glad my wife went with the 35d. Over the last 22 months and 35k miles of 30/70 city/highway mileage is 26.4 mpg. Hand calulated. On average, she's getting over 500 miles per tank.

Coming back from staying with the outlaws for Thanksgiving, which is roughly a 2.5 hour drive, I got 22.x mpg. Around town, that drops to 18 for me.

The fuel you're using matters, I recommend using diesel.

My thanksgiving trip was a round trip from SF to Sacramento and got 29.4 on the way back. 26.7 on the way there. 110 miles each way. 2 adults, 1 infant with baby gear and some bags. Tire pressure set to 41/48. I have 20s, run-flat, and 3rd row.

I tried driving without going above 3k rpm for a couple of days and still couldn't get above 14mpg. I don't know how people get 18 in the city driving 50i. Do you guys reset the counter every so often?

On a short stretch between corpus Christi and san Antonio I pulled in behind a couple sheriffs deputies running 90+, reset mpg, and saw constant 21-22 mpg at those speeds over 25 miles. Loving the diesel mpg.
