Clunking noise

Just started to hear a clunking noise coming form rear, most likely driver side, but only when passengers in rear seat. Worse when I turn left and right.

Suggestions for me to communicate to service advisor?

Thanks in advance.

I noticed a clunking sound from the rear same as you however it seems to be prodominately on the passenger side according to feedback from my passengers. I think it has something to do with the folding lock mechanism but I haven't had a chance to diagnose. Once I get the vehicle back I was going to tackle this. Btw it only happens with passengers in rear.

interesting. thanks. to me, the sound seems like a suspension issue but I am no mechanic. Hoping that I am not the first to deal with this so we all can avoid the potential - could not replicate response from dealer.

Odd. Hard to diagnose here. Are you out of warranty?

According to dealer the noise was the latch mechanism on the rear seat. Replaced and So far, so good.

UglyBuzzard,
Sounds like my assumption was right about the latch. Unfortunately I didn't even think to mention this to my dealer when my X5 was getting work done last week. Would you mind sharing the part # for those that are out of warranty.

No part numbers. Dealer adjusted striker, removed trim and adjusted and lubricated locking mechanism. So far so good.
