CPO certification is for the manufacturer-not the purchaser. It's the dealership providing assurances to the manufacturer that the car's been checked out and is good enough for the manufacturer to slap a CPO warranty on it. However, talk with anyone in the business, and they'll tell you that CPO certification is a fantasy and a joke. That's why CPO coverage isn't B-T-B. It's awful rare for an apples-to-apples non CPO car to sell even close to the price of a CPO'd car.

Warranty waste of money. If it's bumper to bumper then it might be good deal because bullshit things break and if that drives you crazy then get it

So instead, I purchased the vehicle (from out of state), brought it to my local dealer with the safety net that it still has factory warranty. Now I have purchased a 3rd party exclusionary warranty (actually offered by BMW dealership here) for $4k for 5 years/100k miles (this is on TOP of current mileage - so covered till 146k miles). Exclusionary is the key here - all the other warranties will find a way to not cover you.
what 3rd party did you get that deal with?!! I just got quoted 6K for 6 years/100k from fidelity but it was not a car with a current warranty...

Anyone here somewhat close to BMW of Houston, and willing to go look at a car for me? I can compensate for your time of course. Just trying to get a basic once over before proceeding with a full blown PPI. Bonus if you're somewhat mechanically inclined.

askjeeves, I'm in Houston but not close to BMW of Houston North. I'm considering selling mine though...

2011 Carbon Black X5M
43k miles, excellent condition and babied

The original factory warranty expires Nov 14 but considering purchasing the extended warranty if I don't find a used M3/M4 with the options I've been looking for.

Thanks for letting me know. Carbon black is a great color (even better than the Jerez black on my M3). I'm just trying to avoid a dark color since it's such a pain to keep clean. Glws!
