2011 X5 cell phone phonebook/contacts not importing..
Has anybody had a similar problem when pairing their cell phone to their E70 X5?
I traded my 2008 335i coupe 6-speed yesterday (still crying a bit!) for this 2011 X5 and after pairing my LG V10 Android phone several times, I can't seem to get my phonebook/contacts to import. Really not good, as I need to be able to use the iDrive knob to browse and dial while driving. The 2008 335i would immediately import the contacts with no extra effort or specialized procedure. I was disappointed to find this difficulty in a newer vehicle!! If anybody has found a solution to import phonebook via Bluetooth in a similar situation, I'd love to know about it! Thanks much, Greg Austin, TX |

Lots of views but nobody seems to know the answer.
Well, I figured it out, no worries. The Android app "Bluetooth Phonebook" will fix a broken file that allows the phonebook to transfer to the car via Bluetooth. For the archives! Greg |

Have you enabled contact sharing in your Bluetooth settings on your android for that pairing?
There is a checkbox that is not checked by default:

Yes, I checked that box. It didn't fix the problem. As I mentioned above, an Android app called "Bluetooth Phonebook" fixed a contact file that enabled it to share the phonebook through Bluetooth. Works great, I highly recommend it to people who are having a similar experience as I am. Apparently some vehicles/phones are not 100% compatible, and this app fixes the issue.

I had the same problem with my 2010 X5M...it wont sync with the phone if you use the dropdown box to turn on Bluetooth on the phone...you have to go into settings and enable Bluetooth there then tap on the BMW available device. You have to do it this way every time but it works, no need for add on apps

Not true in my situation. I tried your method about 10 times, would not work. Some cars/phones won't sync the phonebook because of a file compatibility issue. The app I mentioned corrects this incompatibility. Your mileage may vary!
