I'm intrigued but not seeing anything specific on their website. Stage 3 for $90 seems very reasonable.

It's still in beta testing?
Where did you read it's been released?

Is there a way to get this if you don't have an Android device?

Was able to get an android tablet from my brother that he is no longer using. Now it looks like the need a OBD-2 to USB, or would a wifi dongle plugged into the OBD-2 work?

Looks like it's $119 for a general license and then $89 for the Stage 3 tune. Didn't release that until I looked into it deeper.

That's correct,.
I have now driven around 500 miles with the flash, it's a huge improvement, very similar to the F85 now

What does true manual mode mean? It says no automatic upshifts in M mode. Does that mean that while in M mode the transmission will no longer be in automatic?

In M mode when I'm under full throttle in 1st gear and use the paddle shifter my engine still manages to bounce off the rev limiter before it realizes I've selected 2nd already. If this can fix that issue I'd be worth the money for me.

What's each stage do?

The stock software seems to be zero or hero...it either tries to always be in 5th or 6th gear (drone) for gas mileage reasons (because that's why I bought an ///M SUV after all lol) during normal mode but sport is too aggressive for daily driving. I've used the paddles on normal mode to downshift a gear for accelerating up hills, but it'll just try to go back into a higher gear within moments. Bump it into sport on the same hill and it's downshifting two gears and jerky due to locking up the torque converter...I can't win!

Also interested in more details on this. Probably my biggest complaint on this truck is the transmission. Shifts way too early and ends up bogging the engine all the time. Sport mode is too aggressive, so looking for a tune that can be something in between. Hoping this is the answer!

Staying tuned for reviews and info as well!

I still have my old K+DCAN cable from my 335i that I've kept in the glove box; I also hate that regular driving is 5/6th gear everywhere, or Sport mode being a bit too aggressive for regular driving. I'd be willing to give it a try if there were a few more reports on it.

Anyone know if xHP posts on any of the other model forums? Might be able to invite them over to give an intro and rundown of the changes.

EDIT - just put a request over in the main E90 thread for some info from RBT.

RBT did reply on the E90 forums and sent me a PM with some info on the TCU tunes. They also have a facebook post with more details here:
https://www.facebook.com/xhpflashtoo...09637326018954

The tunes sound like they'd defintely speed up shifts in the car and get rid of the race to 6th gear in regular mode. I'm thinking about trying it out. I have a 4-month old baby, which was the reason we switched to an X5M, so I don't want the shifts to be too rough when the baby is in the car. If it remains smooth, just more responsive, I might try it out sooner rather than waiting till the baby is a bit older. If it's just me in the car then I like it pretty aggressive otherwise.

We proudly introduce the last release of this year:

BMW X5M/X6M

The X5M/X6M suffer from a very economy biased D-Mode setup, where shiftpoints are the same between 0% - 40% throttle. While this is a good match for Diesel engines, it certainly not fits an M-Engine and was designed to keep the EPA happy, but not the driver.

The same happened at the other end...very early shiftpoints in D-Mode at 100% throttle to, cutting the drivers wish. Due to the already have economy setup, there was little room for a Stage 1 tune. Therefore we decided to start at Stage 2 level.

Stage 2
======

The Stage 2 file removes a lot of the sluggish early upshift bevahiour the X6M/X5M suffer from out of the factory. Shift speeds are quickened in every mode and response to throttle inputs is much more lively and natural. With the Stage 2 calibration your X6 will more feel like a sporty limousine, than a heavy SAV. Crisp and responsive shifting in every situation will let you experience your car in a total new way.

- Shorter shift times in D /S/M mode
- Better response on throttle inputs, easier downshifting
- Instant Torque Converter Lockup after lift-off
- Kickdown delete in M mode
- Max. RPM raised to 7000 rpm

Stage 3
======

This Stage 3 file will really wake up your M. Shift speeds are even quicker than Stage 2 in every mode and response to throttle inputs is much more lively and natural. With the Stage 3 calibration your X6 will more feel like a sporty limousine, than a heavy SAV. Crisp and responsive shifting in every situation will let you experience your car in a total new way. M mode now puts you in total control with the removed Kickdown and the removed auto-upshift (True Manual Mode)! The engine will hit the limiter, like in a manual car, so you are free to drift, without internvention from the gearbox.

- Shorter shift times in D /S/M mode
- Better response on throttle inputs, easier downshifting
- Instant Torque Converter Lockup after lift-off
- True Manual Mode in M
- Kickdown delete in M mode
- Max. Line pressure raised 15%
- Max. Stall-Torque raised 20%
- Max. allowed torque 1200 Nm/885 ftlb

Unfortunately, we are not allowed to post as vendor at xbimmers. (without paying a monthly fee)

Really need better device support ... android is cheap but just to flash a tune jeez man ends up being more shit to buy with adapters and such ... why no windows ??? ...

Looks good otherwise look too see some feedback on how well it works, would love a better responding transmission even after the thousands of miles of practice the transmission still sucks and is always in the wrong gear in auto mode.

885lbs torque wonder how they get this number

They've been in 6HP28 beta for the X5M/X6M platform for a couple of months. It would have been out sooner, but the first round of trial users were slack at getting data back to the guys at xHP.

I wouldn't be surprised if mobile cross-platform support is on the horizon, and suspect they're primarily focused to-date on Android to take advantage of Play Store payment facility.

Just got the X5M back from the dealership. Charged 1300 bucks for the parking brake module going out and another 600 to fix the tailgate rattle issue (thank goodness for extended service warranties). Going to purchase the license for XHP tonight and go straight for the stage 3 transmission flash. I’ll try to post some videos by tomorrow at the latest.
