Exhaust fumes coming inside cabin

Hi All,

I just got this 2007 X5 4.8i a few weeks ago, and lately there were 2 - 3 times that if it hasn't been driven for a few days in a row, that when you drive it and turn on the air, it seems like the smell of exhaust fume is coming in through the air ducts. Once it actually has some smoke but went away after turning off air.

This is our family car for the wifey and son, and she really hasn't driven it much and I am starting to question what is going on under the hood? ANyone know possible causes that I can start to investigate with? Thanks in advance.

might be a crack in your exhaust system or the air intake on the climate system. i'd take it in for service. shouldn't be all that expensive to diagnose and resolve.
