X6 Aftermarket exhaust

Just how many companies actually have exhaust for the X6 currently? Does anyone have and feedback on actual sound?

Thank you in advance.

I know Remus makes a sport exhaust, mufflers, for about $1300. I also saw, I believe, a German outfit that makes one for about $2500

My X6 was tuned by Dinan, and the exhaust was replaced with something more aggressive sounding. It has a gurgling type growl that is impressive when starting the engine, and even more so through acceleration. They also replaced the exhaust tips with black ceramic, so it looks pretty cool too. I posted a low quality video from my camera phone a couple months back at the Dinan facility when it was in Stage one (Stock exhaust tips in video). If you can wait, it sould be available for purchase before the end of the year and you get a full warranty on all their superior quality work.

I saw Remus as makes one but it's for 4.4L X6. I only know 3.5L and 5.0L wonder what 4.4L X6 looks like?

I called GMP performance and they said it's not for 3.5L engine.

I've got a Supersprint Street model on order and it should be here in about 10 days. Supersprint in Tyler TX orders them from Italy once a week, on Thursdays, 7-10 days to get to States and then shipped from there. Allegedly a 2 decibel sound increase, 7 HP, 2 ft/lbs. $2500. plus install. However, my 09 X6 3.5 is so quiet I can't even hear it.

Hopefully, it will arrive at shop today.(?) As usual, things always take longer than advertised. Will try and get it done this week.

For what it's worth, muffler is in and am taking car to shop for install today, 10/26. Other work is being performed so will not have it back until 10/28 and will advise then. Also, just got off phone with Andrew of AR Design in Denver. We are attempting to co-ordinate a time for me to bring the car to him for development of some downpipes. We'll see?

Let us know about the downpipes.. I'll probably be one of the first to get them..

Will do. I'm still impressed with the Juice Box 1.4 Plug and Play. Car feels like it has a small V8 in it. However, did have a couple of "Limp Mode" episodes. Rectified with pulling over and shutting engine down for a reset. Was on Stage 5 and backed it off to Stage 4. No re-occurrence yet. Terry Burger, Juice Box man, said it was probably due to the heavier car and "lag fix". My BMW Tech, sorry, should have written down the codes, says the Juice Box was holding the waste-gate closed just a little too long, causing the problem. Am hoping to get to Denver, AR Design, in early Dec. but most likely will be Jan.

By the way, for the thread's sake: I've ordered two smaller Magnaflow mufflers along with two round slant tips. I'll try to see if I can get the exhaust shop build a custom exhaust for me using these. Since there isn't any single mufflers with two inlets in the middle at the market except Supersprint & Remus, I'll try to replicate the Dinan & Meisterschaft examples without doing anything to my stock exhaust. I can post up the pics over here if/when it's done.. Overall, it should cost me around $500-600 max.

hey eg3,

are you in Boston? I am also in Boston too but work in Vietnam now. Maybe I could check out your muffler when I am back next month? Really want to wait for the best muffler sound.

I love the demanding sound.

OK, for what it's worth. Supersprint system installed. The best comparison I can give is that it sounds much like a BMW Performance exhaust, perhaps slightly more quiet. It is a deep, muted quality sound. I've only driven the car 12 miles so still can't pin down how it sounds. At least now I can hear the exhaust, up to about 30 mph. With the stock I couldn't hear a thing.
