How long to wash a X6

Hi

Since X6 is such a big car I am wondering how long does it take to wash the car? How to keep the running board clean?

if you do it by hand it would be your 320 x 3.

I take mine to car wash and they do it by hand, takes them about an hour.

There is no hope for the running boards, they were a good idea executed badly
or a bad idea executed well.

Dunno. .I get other people to wash it. .I washed my previous cars with my own hands (ocasionally) , but this one, after all the shitload of money I paid for it, a few extra bucks to people who need it, it's not an issue. Actually, exterior plus interior, detailed work, it's about 1 hour.

I wash mine every weekend, if I just want to wash it with no full detail it will take me 45min, if I do a full detail such is all windows inside and out (plus Rain-X) cleaning wheels as it should, shining the tires, cleaning leather seats and floor liner will take me 3 hours, 3 beers and a lot of good music........

Mine take about 30 minutes with wheel srub, boy do they get dirty. I do recommend a pole brush (soft brush, got mine at NAPA dealer), really helps

Don't even get me started on my brake dust rant. They can make a car that puts more power to outside wheel in turns but can't produce brake pads (at a reasonable cost/reasonable life ) that don't make you car look like shit 10 minutes after you leave the car wash.

Actually, some crazy shit crossed my mind, lately. Wash the car but not the rims..they look so titanium when dirty. (Almost like Deda's rims)

My is a little over a month old and washed it for the first time last weekend. It took 3 hours for a thorough going over including the rims and tyres.
I used Maguires Gold Class wash which left a "rough" feel...maybe too harch and required a spray on glaze afterwards to give that smooth feel..any thoughts appreciated.

I think you have a couple of issues here, one could be that the wax must be applied and removed almost inmediately, the other is that you waxed the car with a thicker layer of wax or maybe the car surface was too hot ?
read the wax directions label to see what the manufacturer says about it

You can switch out the pads if you don't like it.

For me, I'd rather have the faster initial cold bite that those pads offer and just deal with the brake dust.

For the record, I do agree that brake dust is a PIA.

be carefull if you are going to buy not OEM brake pads, had a bad experience with my M3 I will stick to factory pads for sure

Use professional outsourced hand wash job. 3 hours?! I bet you like to scrub chinese antiques.

Tried waxing the rims to see if they collected less brake dust, seems about the same, see how they wash this week end. I recall seeing cover that go betwen the rims and the disc to keep dust on the rotor side, wonder if available if they work?

I think using that disc cover can make temperature go to high since the disc is not getting all the air it needs to cool down, better wash the wheels often, I have heard there is a wheel-wax that makes the brake dust not to stick to the wheel as usual, never read a review of a real user.....

Just use any synthetic sealant on your rims. It can withstand higher temps than waxes. Less brake dust will stick, and the stuff that sticks can be rinsed off with just a hose. Don't even need soap.

The Brake disc cover is stupid. I like to see the brakes on a car. Not make the wheel look like its a hubcap or something.

for synthetic sealant any particular brand/name you recommend ?
