New Turbo
So, just got the X5 back after valve seal job and new turbos installed. 35K miles and all covered thankfully.
This may sound odd but the car feels much quicker. Would a new turbo have that effect? Reckon it is the same spec as the original so Of coarse the tech did not reset the oil maintenance indicator. Got serviced while in there as well. |

could be that the oil from valve stem leak was contaminating the fuel/spark plugs in the combustion chamber, leaving behind unburnt fuel and causing performance problems. Now that you've taken care of the leak, you're having clean and complete combustion? MY car was having misfires due to oil in combustion chamber (fouled up spark plugs + oil in fuel), and they went away once the valve stem seals were done.
I also had the "charge air cooler - reduced power output" message when the turbo coolant lines were leaking (one of the charge air coolers was not cooling the air going back into the turbos, and the net effect was reduced power output per the computer - I didn't feel much difference). So it could be that as well. |

My vehicle was in the dealer yesterday and they too forgot to reset the oil change warning. How do you spend time fixing a car, test drive it, bring it around to the customer, and not see that thing all lit up on the dash? I got in and started it, and saw it immediately. Had to walk back in and stand over my SA while he was on the phone, to get them to take care of it.
