Tension struts and lowering

Question for suspension experts. When installing coilovers for a big drop, should you loosen the bolt for the tension strut bushing while installing and retighten when your desired ride height is set? I may have a bad bushing and trying to understand if it could have been prevented. Tension struts require being torqued down when the truck is at ride height and loaded. This wasn't mentioned in the KW instructions.
