Well not really that bad, when I bought these they were advertised as not for 2010 on M model cars, so knew they probably wouldn't go straight in, it took me ages to actually see why they wouldn't fit due to the lack of space around the headlight area but once you see why it doesn't fit its quite obvious. The LED heatsink has a much larger diameter than the standard H8 housing which fouls on a lip that sticks up approx 1/3 of the way around the bulb entry on the headlight, the fix is to reduce the diameter of the first 2 rows of the heatsink for about 2/3 of the way around, left and right LEDs need different sections cutting off, in the end I placed the LED in a vice and used an angle grinder with a diamond blade to cut off sections of the top 2 heatsink rings and then filed it back to a nice round shape, the diameter of the top 2 heatsink rings needs to be the same as the original bulb for about 2/3 of the way round, enough to push it in and twist it, once modded it went in like a normal bulb, I should have taken pictures but it was dark, cold and wet. |

Everyone please note - this set installed was the LUX H8 V2, not the current LUX H8 V3. the LUX H8 V3 is designed differently to make up for the changed that were made to this set

Too busy driving it today to do the pics but will post some soon, also have some pics of the old loaner I had with the euro led lights to compare.
I'm having a few PMs with Marc at the moment, sounds like the V3 may go straight in without any mod although still to be confirmed if the diameter is reduced enough. |

Well, I can see the bulb that needs to come out. I see to clips for the connector (easy stuff), but then I saw a brass colored looking clip thing and was like, "Damn, it having worked on a vehicle in over 10 years. I think i'll let someone do this for me." Do you have a video clip or instructions on how to install them? ... I've been conversing over my hotmail account directly with LUX. |

Hi Marc-
Did you have a chance to post the X5 Install doc to your site yet? For those that might need it, I created an Install doc when I did mine. It's very easy and strait forward and will take you all of about 10 minutes tops. Marc, please let me know if your OK with me attaching the doc here for others to use. Thanks!

BMW007, now that you've had the lights in for a week or so, are you getting any codes or errors? I had previously used another brand of LED lights and got an error code on the dash. Thanks.
