Just Ordered a 2012 BMW X5 35i Premium with Conv pkg

Hi
Iam a first time BMW buyer who just put in an order for the 2012 BMW X5 35i Premium with Conv pkg.

I need some help in deciding if,

1. I need the BMW apps with the snapin for the iPhone ($500) or just use the USB cable or Bluetooth streaming. I plan to use my iPhone for streaming music and making calls

2. I am not sure if I should order the 3rd row seat. How usable is it?

Any help would be much appreciated

Cheers

No need for 3rd row seating unless you have little kids or midgets. Also, look into M package. I regret not getting the m package and premium sound.

I would definetly get the Premium Sound and also the Multi Contour seats. The 3rd row was useless I thought.

Do you have kids? How old are they? If you don't need the extra seats for two kids than don't get the third row. The second row is impacted by adding the third. We went with the third because we have two kids and will use the seats.

@cb4 I have a 3yr old. How do the 2nd row seats get affected by adding in the 3rd row?
How old are your kids, if you dont mind me asking, just so I know how much leg room there is.

The downside is that the second row seats sit higher when the third row option is installed. This reduces the headroom. For me 6'3", I was unable to comfortably sit in the middle. The left and right seats were fine.

The upside is that the second row is adjustable. Both forward and back as wells as the recline. You can't adjust the 2nd row without the 3rd row option.

I encourage you to find a BMW center with both the third row and without. I was on the fence on this option until I was able to A-B compare.

We have 2 boys (4 and 6). They are tall boys. I believe these seats will work for them for at least 6 more years.

The third row was a huge plus for us. There are times when we need to fit 4 or 5 adults as well as the two boys. This is for around town shopping and trips downtown to the theater or museums. For long halls into the mountains it's only the 4 of us and the third row will be down.

I compared the q7, MDX, and x5 3rd rows. Honestly all three are good for kids only. The X5 3rd row do the job for our needs.

Hope this helps.

Cheers and good luck!

At 6-2 I have no issue with the second row (I have the third row option). I s'pose if you put the second row bolt upright u might have a clearance issue, but that would be uncomfortable. My son, at 4 yes old, loves the booster seat in the third row. It's very useful.

Its that last inch that makes it uncomfortable. LOL

OP the only way to know for sure is to check one out in person.

On the iPhone, I have one and don't have the smartphone integration - just bluetooth + USB cable. I can use the iphone for music using the cable or bluetooth and also use the phone as well. I am not missing the cradle too much, though I guess it would be nice, but I couldnt justify the $$$.

I have the iPhone cradle in my 335. I never use it. By the way if the iphone changes form factor you need to buy a new cradle adapter. I had a iphone 3gs and when the 4 came out my adapter didn't work so needed to spend 150 to upgrade the adapter. To me its just not worth it.

I missed the part about iPhone BMW Apps. My 335 does not support this. So it may be worth getting the cradle if that is required to run the Apps.
