Brake wear info. question
After dealer re-initialized/reset the electronics on our 2008 X5 during a service visit to diagnose issues with the dash+nav displays, I notice that the system info. is showing some interesting numbers. Apparantly having driven 34,000 miles with the original brake pads, I still have 44,000(rear)/60,000(front) miles remaining on my brake pads. This service visit was at the end of June(about 800 miles ago). So, are the original pads really that good, or will the system info correct itself at some point. I find it hard to believe that I will get 94,000 miles from my front pads!!!
By way of comparison the brake pads on our new 2011 X3 35i with 600 miles on the clock has only got 33,000(front)/32,000(rear) miles left per system info. screen. |

I can only tell you that: I have the original brake disks and pads in it for 70k + miles and they're still ok, so I would assume its correct, however there is always a +/- margin 20% and depends alot on the overall usage and wear.
