Total worldwide production of the X5/X6 family runs at about 4:1 ratio. However, sales here in the US run closer to a 10:1 (although lately closer to 7:1 - it is getting more popular dammit). So for some reason the X6 is pretty popular everywhere but here. I suspect that most of them are in oil rich nations (and London - cause I saw a ton of them there).

I don't remember seeing that many x6s when I was in London in January... actually.. I don't remember seeing 1... but I was not as vigilant as I am now... I expected to see more in Germany... home of the BMW... especially with so many BMWs in the streets... but again... only 2...
