Spark plugs cleaned or replaced?

Recently purchased an X5m with about 47k miles. Still has factory warranty and maintenance plan though it'll be expiring here in a few thousand miles.

Saw that the spark plugs were never actually replaced. According to the record:

"Spark plugs cleaned and gap adjusted"

Wondering if it's required to be replaced or if cleaning and adjusting the gap is more than enough? Would like to get them actually replaced while I still have maintenance plan active but didn't know if I'd get any resistance from BMW that they did their part in cleaning them.

Thanks!

I believe the maintenance cycle on them is pretty darn long, compared to the rest of the world... Personally I'd advocate to replace them. Especially if they took them out to begin with. That's just lazy on their part.

Typically you don't clean a sparkplug, and re-gapping modern plugs depending on type e.g. iridium, you just don't do. And they are so cheap to begin with.. almost disposable.

Every 45k miles ....

You don't clean and gap a plug already in an engine you replace them, it should have been gapped when installing and the x5m plugs come pre-gapped so this is total BS.

Sounds like a stealer scheme for taking a customers money to me.

New plugs do not need to be gapped like in the old days. This is just typical dealership BS.

Yea I always ask to see the old parts when I pick up my car just to make sure shit like this doesn't happen.

The plugs on my x5 where changed at 100k miles. Otherwise they where Origanal, crazy i tell you.

They enter a code which gives the cleaned and gapped, old car stuff that no longer really applies to new cars, probably their as a legacy option on their computers. They may clean them but re-gapping doesn't really make sense.

Why risk having an incorrect gap? I feel it is worth the extra few seconds to check the gap. I do buy cheap plugs, but I always gap them before they go into a motor. Hate to have to do a job twice.

*edit* your post make sense now, you meant in terms of pulling plugs out of a motor, checking gap, then reinstall said used plugs, yes I agree
