Added 2012 X5d to stable
Over the weekend, we picked up a LCI X5d in San Diego and drove it home (got 26 mpgs on the trip!)
The M3 still gets its spot in the garage however. More info: Car was CPO'd in November 2013 just before the CPO rules change...so it's 100% transferrable to me with no additional paperwork or $$$ paid to BMWNA 2012 X5d LCI Alpine White Cinnamon Brown Bamboo trim 3rd Row Seat Sports Package 20 inch wheels Premium Package Apps Backup cameras Aluminum boards Comfort Access Premium Sound CPO + 10 remaining months of maintenance I'm sure I'm missing some other minor options, but those are the big ones! Enjoy!

Congrats Flying Ace - your new X5 looks perfect
The model year, color combo including interior trim and all the packaging/options are nearly identical to mine - just the model is different (I have a 50i w/ M Sport). Alpine over Cinnamon is so sharp - I get compliments all the time and you will too. The 3rd row works great for kids…definitely appreciate the flexibility to seat 2 extra people when needed. Enjoy! Nice SS E90 too - I like the ZCP wheel addition. Ever thought of doing the rear LCI conversion? |

The 3rd row is reasonable for someone who is shorter than 5'10", I sat in the back to test it out with the 2nd row moved all the way forward. It didn't seem that bad for a 30 minute drive or so, but anything longer than 1-2 hour would have been miserable back there. It's great in a pinch, and I forsee using it often in the future. I like LCI lights on the M3, but can't justify the costs. With Silverstone, I have to not only find a LCI trunk, I also have to paint it. The entire process would cost me at least $1500 for a used setup, instead, I decided to spend the money on ZCP wheels and other stuff.

Great looking X, I have always loved white on cinnamon leather. And you have my favorite rims.

Agreed on 3rd row - no way an adult should be sitting back there on a long road trip but I'm pretty sure no X5 owner with the 3rd row ever intended on using it for that anyway I've never actually had an adult back there in ours, only my kids and their friends. Good point, SS is an ///M color so little chance finding a used one vs. having a standard 3 series color where your chances would be better. |

there are, but depending on the criteria of price, mileage, options, it might appear slim. what city do you prefer to buy it from on the west coast?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/301499458880...:SS:SS:US:3160 very rare combo, IMO. First diesel + AD + 3rd row combo that I've come across, in the 6+ months of my BMW search. It has slightly higher miles, and in Illinois. [caveat emptor: I don't know anything about the seller or the condition of the car, just came across this today] |

Rattle
[QUOTE=Flying Ace;17263804]I saw a post about fixing the rattle on the rear hatch...but I have rattle and squeaks with the OEM trunk screen/cover. It's the plastic-on-plastic rubbing and squeaks. Do you have the same issue? Should I try a different screen/
I had the rattles also on my 2012 lci x5D, I put electrical tape on the second row fold down seats, The black hooks that the seats clamp to and also on the black hook for the tailgate and it went away. It's all quite now. Love it... It would annoy the s..t out of me before.

Rattle
I thought it was the screen but, all I did was fold down the second row seats, put electrical tape the u shape black hooks where the seat latches to and to the u shaped hook on the rear hatch door. After that all the rattles were gone. I to thought that it was the screen and it was the things I just mentioned. Hope this helps, it did me..

well...maybe. My view is, with preowned cars, you can't be picky. Getting the right combo of options, color, pricing, quality, and location is difficult with preowned.
