Exclamation Engine malfunction!

Hmm so the light came on last night, engine malfunction, reduced engine power. Called bmw said it shouldnt take longer than a day to fix. Going to drop it off tomorrow morning and gonna make sure i mention the HPFP issue, along with the fact that many ppl experience loss of torque after that repair.

It could possibly be due to the tune, but considering i've had it tuned for almost a month now with no problems it could very well not be the tune. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

I had the same thing happen a few weeks back. This happened before I put my tune on, so totally stock tune and engine.

The dealer had it for a week to troubleshoot it and found that bank 1 was misfiring. They replaced the injector to find that it was not sealed correctly. They ended up replacing the entire side of fuel injectors and all the plugs as well as a couple of coils. I have had it back two weeks now and no issues. I talked to the tech and he said it is now good to go. I will still wait another few weeks to confirm all is well before I install my ESS Tune.

So what happened?

Same happened to my previous X6 5.0i, after 29k miles, so I went to the dealership, they have replaced ALL injectors, and coils. To be honest, after they did that, car felt like a brand new. I wish they were done it way back ))))

Well I picked up the X6 yesterday and they couldnt pin point exactly what was cuasing the engine light. They confirmed that it wasnt the HPFP. They ordered me a new DME which is coming from germany and they said that most likely since the current one is "defective", that could be the reason for the engine light.

So in about a week or so they will be installing the new DME along with 2 new door panels since the nappa leather armrests on both front doors are starting to peel.

I had a similar issue, and the dealer ended up replacing the low pressure fuel pump. This was after the HPFP recall/repair. That seemed to do the trick.
