For what it's worth. I drive an 09 X6 3.5. My wife drives a 2010 Cayenne S. I'd wager that you are contemplating a 2011 Cayenne, much better looking than the 2010 models. Regardless, they are two distinctly different cars. The interior room of the X6 far exceeds the Porsche. Especially back seat leg room. The I drive is easier to work with than the standard push buttons on the Nav., the radio, etc. on the Porsche. I have the optional sport seats in my X6, far more comfortable than the Porsche. The heated steering wheel in the X6 is purely manual...Off/ON. The Porsche's is linked to a thermostat and comes on at some undisclosed temp....B.S.The seat heaters in the Porsche are controlled by a drum like wheel with five numbers, all requiring a magnifying glass to read. The X6 has a large button and three colored bars easily seen for the three different levels. If you go with the Porsche make sure you get the air suspension, three different ride height levels and three different firmness levels. I love it. The one thing I don't like about the Porsche, despite it having steering wheel shift buttons is it takes upwards of a second to up-shift or down shift when using manual. The X6's shift change is instant. Again, these are older cars. I love the look of the new Cayenne's. I once owned a Mercedes E-55AMG and put Kleimann's stage two headers, supercharger boost and ECU mod. into it jacking the HP up to 565. I ended up driving it less and less. My 3.5 with a Burger Juice Box set at stage 6 makes my car very quick for a heavy beast. All in all the Porsche is a slightly better vehicle but many of it's features are Spartan.Think about a loaded 5.0 X6. Of course money may be an issue....good luck!

I bet it is. My 3.5 with the Juice Box is about the same as the Cayenne S performance wise. One thing to remember....future gas prices.(?) Also, future availability. Since our current administration has been in office average gas prices have gone up about $1.01 a gallon. One other thing, Dinan is now offering engine mods for the X6 5.0 and 3.5. They go for about $2600., most of the cost is probably for their engine warranty. Both increase HP about 80. My Juice pack helps a considerable amount.

i test drove the x6m and the cayenne tt. The porsche is nice inside but small. Alot ot suede to get dirty if you have kids. The x6m is a bmw on roids. I also test drove the G55. Liked the X6m the best except the stupid run flat tires. ran over a screw at 200 miles and cost $460 to replace. Oh well. Looking to trade in the Audi Q5 for a sedan maybe an S6

I just checked the finance rates and BMW is lowest with 1.9% verses 3.9% for Porsche. If Porsche has 1.9% It would be a no brainer.

definitely test drive both and for a better comparison you will probably want to look at cayenne tt. I test drove cayenne s and really didn't like the way it handled. May be I am more used to driving a sedan (Infiniti M45) but I felt very comfortable driving all three variations of x6 fast and didn't in a cayenne.

The Cayenne has been out for years, and is practically common compared to the X6M.
The X6M has the looks to impress almost anyone. The performance, and luxury are equally great. The Porsche is no comparison at all. Oh, and the Panamera is ugly as hell, and the interior has about 45 too many buttons. Porsche should stick to the 911. |

Fully Equipped?
Curious, how do you get a X6M Fully Equipped @ 96K. I believe that's base,no? I spec'd one out for 112K with every option (Fully equipped IMTs).

There is a 2011 Cayenne Turbo S available? The new body? I am curious because I love the new Cayenne Turbo and would love to test the Turbo S but did not think it is out yet.
http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/cayenne/ does not seem to have it. If you are referring to the previous body Turbo S, I would (and did) take the X6M over it. The last Cayenne just seemed too dated for me and felt the brakes and overall acceleration were not as good as the X6M. |

IMHO when comparing two vehicles I think you need to test drive them, not just around the block but how you would normally drive them. Relying on specs is like reading a chamber of commerce brochure. Skywagon's info should give you things to consider.

there is no cayenne turbo S for 2011 according to the dealer. I got my X6M almost fully loaded (no ventilated seats and no side view cameras Just top view and backup) for $91,500 (sticker was $97K) with no trade in and an additional $300 in options that I have not used. Most likely buy a roof rack for my surfboard. I really enjoyed driving the X6M over the Cayenne Turbo, plus with free maint. vs the very expensive maint for a Cayenne, that alone will save you $15K in 36-48K miles.

BTW BMW is offering .09 APR for the first 2 yrs then 1.9 for the remaining 1 o 2 yrs when you finance for 48 months or less. Smoking deal. Not even worth putting any money down if you have enough invested elsewhere to make the ~$2200 monthly payment.

Lowest one I got on new Cayenne 2011 was 3.9%....Actually 3 months ago I was in your similar situation...deciding between X6 5.0 and Cayenne S...
I went for the X6 and I have absolutely no regrets.. ...with the X6 M would be of course even better...maybe my next one in a few years |
