X6M rear seat entertainment

Does anyone here have the rear seat entertainment package in their X6M? I ordered my car with it but I have no idea what it includes. I know there is a screen between the driver and passenger seats but how is it controlled? My dad's old 750li had the rear screen and was controlled by an I-drive knob in the back seat. How is it in the X6? Remote control? Idrive knob?

Being in an M car IS entertainment!
Some people w/ rear entertsinment complained how it gets in the way of resting elbows when the screen is stowed over the back of the storage bin. check that out!

Exactly the reason I didn't order it. My arm hit it everytime I test drove the demo. I'm tall and could not drive without hitting it. I think the aftermarkets for the headrest are much better. Something to consider as long as they integrate it well.

I had it on my X650i and I hated it because the same reason sariggs1 stated. I opted not to get it on my X5M. You can control it from the iDrive, but you can't control the play, pause, stop, etc functions of a DVD, that's done with a remote it comes with

Agree , demo I drove had it and it was annoying. Also only the dog rides in the back on a regular basis and he can wait to get home to watch doggie videos

I ordered it... I am average height so hopefully it won't be a problem! Do we get IR headphones with the system. I seem to recall yes, but now I am wondering

You do get IR headphones and hopefully the position won't be an issue for you guys. I'm 6'4" so my seat is all the way back, I just couldn't make it work - much to my boys disappointment. For movies, we take Mom's Volvo!

Agree with sariggs1, headrest screens looks better and people in the back dont have to lean sideways to see the screen in the middle.

Didn't get any headsets with my 09 X650. I think the headsets were BWM aftermarket part and not wireless either.

If I knew from begining I wouldn't order it. I actually have 7 DVD+1CD slot at the front and another DVD player at the rear thats 9 CDs in total. When I play the rear DVD it never show up to the front screen and I don't get the head phones with my X6 3.5i. Oh, and it doesn't play movies from your ipod too, unless you have an ipod AUX cable (red, white, yellow). I'm disapointed with the system, the only thing is the sound system quality is quite acceptable.

I dwelled on it and I was going to make a post myself so Im glad to see you guys started one on the rear seat entertainment topic. The reason I chose against the rear seat entertainment was the fact that there was little or no information about how the rear seat LCD screen worked with relation to the rest of the audio system.

1. I wanted to know if it had visual graphics when you play music like an iTunes visualizer or like the Windows Media Player (WMP) graphics that visually play along to the beat.

2. Can I independantly watch DVDs on the LCD screen while listening to music from the main audio system in the car.

3. Do the DVDs in the front DVD changer play on the LCD screen in the back?

4. Can I hookup a PlayStation or Wii for the Kids?

Thats just a start, I had a plethora of other questions but there was no QnA on it. If you look at the projects the Government gets involved with, they raise questions like that and address that information. They are good about typing it up and explaining how it works and why they do it. When it comes to non governmental non paramilitary organizations, you are relying on geeks who never had any military structure to outline how processes work so that knowledge is standardized for the majority. If BMW would explain how seemingly advanced features of the car work without violating corporate non disclosure policies it would be helpful and lead to more purchases.

The reason why a lot of people opted out of the rear Seat entertainment was not only the uneconomical price, but the lack of information that described the functionality of the piece of equipment and why it would be a good idea to get it. if BMW would write justifications as to why it is important to buy the rear LCD screen, more people would be convinced to do it if they justified its usefulness.

I wanted to know complicated pieces of information about the setup that werent available. I think $1700 can be better spent, tickets to Ukraine, a flat for a week and some blonde hookers.

LOL

You had me going pretty good there until that last part.

Let's see: a flat for a week and some blond hookers? Not sure what you can get for a week for $1700. Either the flat would be cheap, but more than likely the hookers would be. . .

LoL well the whores are about $400 a night, the flat about $175 a night and the ticket about $1000 so the cost of a rear seat entertainment ($1700) would knock a good chunk off. Thats a $1700 better spent to me LoL
