Considering purchase, Narrowed it down to 2

Considering an X5 purchase but torn between two vehicles at the moment.
Both cars are similar price maybe $300-400 difference in the bottom line price.

2013 BMW X5 35i Base + NAV
Jet black - black (Leatherette)

vs

Land Rover Evoque is a 2013 5-door Pure premium pure plus with climate comfort and sat radio.
Santorini Black - Ebony

I don't know how I got to cross shopping both of these cars the size difference is huge.
I feel there's no wrong choice both seem to be very high quality vehicles.

The vehicle will be a DD for me, my wife, and 4yo daughter
No plans to take it off road
Coming from a 2012 STI sedan DD

Just looking for opinions, personal experiences and any comments to persuade me in any direction

Thanks!

Oddly enough, before I got my X5 with my wife, we were looking at the Evoque too.

Have you sat in there? I feel so cramped feels like my head is about to get crushed. I'm not that tall (5'10) but it just didn't feel roomy and comfy like the X5.

Aside from that, I didn't go on anything else. (performance, handling, quality of parts, extra addins). If it was comfortable when i first sat it, everything else is moot.

If you are ok with the headroom in there and the small trunk space, go for it. If not, go for the X5.

I love Land Rover.. had a 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged and it was 'awesome'. I'm considering selling my '11 X5 x50i and getting back into a 2010+ Rover. HOWEVER, that Evoque just doesn't do well with my eyes. I can't get over how strange and cramped it looks. I read its fun to drive.. but I couldn't get over looking at it on a daily basis.

Sorry about my rant. My wife stopped listening to me talk lately so this is an outlet.. lol

Now that I think of it, Evoque is in comparison with the X3 size wise. X5 is the bigger Range Rover / Land Rover's.

Get an X5 35i xDrive SAV with staggered 20s. It's a man's car. The Evoque is cute, with a 4cyl turbo.

By the way, you compare the Evoque with the X3 28i, it's more of a fair fight.

funny

I always liked the evoque-- looked at a loaded up 2012 (they have a boat load left on the lot) took it for a drive..felt like a rav4 and the steering was super FWD feeling.. when the dealership told me the 4 cyl was from fords parts bin.. I walked away-- might as well get a new escape =)

X5-is my vote

I asked several people I know and they said unless you lease the rover.. or sell out of warranty =0 that scares me..

That and the fact the glass roof doesn't open.

I was in your situation, coming from an Evolution X. The Evoque is kinda small on the interior.. since you have 1 child and yet she only needs a booster or big kids car seat it might work.
X5, you can literally have 5 kids in the back (LOL) thats how roomy it is, but of course the belts are only designed for 3 pass. unless you get the third row seat.

look into and X5 diesel, saves you alot on fill ups. oh btw, get the 20inch wheels, you'll forget your Subie
good luck on your hunt.

This sums it up quite accurately.

I think you'll be happier with the X5 in the long run. I've driven both and I believe the X5 is just a more substantial car.

So quick, Production got completed in about 4-5 days from putting down my deposit.

Getting "Your Vehicle Is At The Port Awaiting a Shipping Vessel", But I think it takes a train from Spartanburg to Oxnard then trucked to the dealer in Northern California?

think I got about 15-16 days to go

The X5 was slightly out of my price range of what I wanted to spend on a DD but with a good chuck off MSRP and Penfed interest rate it was too good of a deal to pass up.

Went very light on options
X5 Base

Couldn't be happier with my choice

looking at some mods now kidney grills, tint, wheels, & reflector delete should be in the near future.

Great looking X5!!! All you need are the fender flares and some nice OEM 20s and you are set.
