Good x5m?
Hoping to get some opinions on a X5M I am going to check out this weekend. It seems to be well optioned, and does not have an excessive amount of miles. Car fax is clean. The factory warranty expired a couple weeks ago I believe.
My concerns are that the car was a north east car, and likely driven year round based on mileage. And based on the carfax it seems the car has been at this dealership for a year now. I would for sure get a PPI and be buying an extended warranty. But before getting to that point, is there anything in particular I should look out for when I see the car? Thank you!! $46K asking price 2013 x5m with 46k miles Space grey over full black leather and piano black trim Active ventilated seats Driver assistance package Cold weather package Adaptive full LED lights Premium sound Soft close doors Comfort access

Everything sounds good. If you get the warranty it should cover any potential concerns. And the dealer must have certified it before hand presumably? Just drive it around and satisfy yourself.
The one I picked up had been at my local dealership for some time as well. The market for gas guzzler, expensive, German SUV's is not as big as you'd think. |

Well it's not being sold by a BMW dealership. And there is no particular certification for the car as far as I know, besides their general claim that it is in good shape.
Perhaps can use the amount of time they've had this x5m as a good bargaining tool.

When I searched for my X5M nationally, I sent couple of cars to a local bimmer specialized repair center to get a thorough check. I believe it was worth the money.

That sounds SUPER low. I just paid $54K for a fully loaded 41K mile, X5M 2013, CPO model that has 9 months left of original warranty. A car that has been sitting at a dealer for a year is HUGE red flag. So between the price and sitting around, I would be highly skeptical. Which car/dealerhship?

if the car is a 2013 is should still be under the 4 year / 50k miles warranty
Get the VIN # call your local BMW guy -- serevice department - and ask him when the "In service " date is -- then 4 years from that date is expires -- so any 13 should be good until 2017 -- so you'd buy the car and take it right to BMW to get anything and everything fixed while under warranty

On a serious note, I searched for a few weeks. Not many quality low mile x5m's on the market. I only wanted CPO personally and there was 2 in the country at the time. I flew down to VA and drove it home 6 hours away. KBB price was in line for it. This is a fully loaded model that OP is referring too. |

CPOs are a rip off. They are nowhere near the factory coverage. You pay a premium for the psychological aspect of CPO, but the warranty is for the manufacturer-not for you. You're much better off not paying the premium, and getting a third-party exclusionary warranty.

OffLease has a lot of low priced vehicles. I looked at them when I got mine and upon further research I decided the "deal" wasn't worth the "Deal" with them. Also, the communication was poor with them and I felt like they were trying to hide things. I wouldn't by a vehicle like this from a dealer like that. These things can EASILY turn in to a nightmare that cost you a lot of money. Buy from a well known enthusiast dealer, from BMW or a private party.
