Ipod Album Art Display

Hey, I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade the Idrive display in my '09 X6 so that it can show the album art from my ipod when I connect it? Has anyone done this upgrade to their car yet? I understand that the 2011 model idrive system is capable of this but the '08 - '10 models do not have this feature. Any feedback on this matter would be appreciated.

It'd be cheaper to change your car - it's a multi-thousand dollar exercise as you need a new nav computer, controller, combox, display, you'd have to get your car coded somehow....

I just traded my '09 x35i X6 and my '12 x50i x6 will be delivered in the next couple of weeks... I went *crazy* with options (soft close doors, nappa, every package) and my payment is only about $20 more than my old one was

...plus I get new iPod control now!

The process you are describing makes sense to me. dammit. I know it is not a necessity, but I was thinking it would have been a cool feature to have on my screen... but what you said is VERY intruiging to me... currently, I too am driving a fully loaded '09 X6 35i with 22765 miles on it. Do you think I would be able to do the same upgrade as you did!?! a fully loaded 2012 X6 50i for 20 bucks extra a month sounds like a dream come true for me. If you are willing to share your secret on how to get in on something like that, I'm all ears!
