I think it's gorgeous. Good job BMW. I love how some of the lines pay homage to the old 8 series. I hope the production versions stays close to the concept.
I'm in love... Too bad I won't be able to afford one. |

This car looks to deliver a genuine presence. I can't wait to see how it comes to fruition.
Thank you to the interior designer that moved BMW past leather piping on the seats. Piping is so 1980s!

Otherwise, I found it very supple but muscular, luxurious and beautiful designed. Interior wise it is 10 TIMES BETTER THAN S CLasse(!) and love it. S Classe it is not my style. This BMW nails the interior to the spot. I hate the glued ipad's on dash as I hate the Mercedes round air vents and its so 50's interior with its round dash that does not flow perfectly with the doors. Mercedes is love seats on wheels, BMW is sportiveness on wheels. Now, this will have CF and will come with a 12 year anti-corrosive BMW warranty. Mercedes offers 4. What a joke for the money. Many Mercedes I see on the road are rusted. Bottom line: replace the grill, and produce this car, I will buy one. It is just beautiful and the interior is exactly what I am looking for: elegant, not too busy, practical and without making my eyes rolling in despair. It has a simple yet beautiful interior that perfectly promotes BMW heritage: SPORTINESS. Love it! Last edited by Teutonic; 05-27-2017 at 03:36 PM.. |

Listening to the presentation of the design details, I gather the actual car will be closely resembling the concept. The grill, the lines and the minimalist interior. Why else would this be highlighted in a debut and then omit it in production?
It is like an Aston Martin in my mind but more modern and certainly BMW. Also it sounds like the brand wants to position this as a premium vehicle not just luxury. My guess is the 8 M car will be a little beyond the highest Panamera in price. And will also be a super smooth looking body. Probably all other lines will also jump up in price. |

If you guys watch the M8 video, and take a look at the M8 still images, the kidney grilles for the 8 series will not look like these monstrosities on the concept.
After watching the video of the design details, it certainly is a sporty and elegant machine. I always have preferred how BMW mixes sportiness and luxury in its interiors in comparison to Mercedes and Audi. |

That's what I was thinking too. It looks good, but its not BMW. Without kidneys, it a bust for me. It is the most definitive BMW design element. |

I know the car is just a prototype, but BMW, I know you look at these forums. Don't change any design elements on the production version of this vehicle. It's gorgeous. Both interior and exterior.

The Merc's interior feels very special. There's so much detail that captures the eye that it's a pleasure to sit inside. With that being said, such a "traditional" look would not work in a BMW, which is a more modern/sportier brand in terms of design. However, this 8er's interior feels exceedingly simple from a design standpoint. The quality of materials and construction is up there with the most expensive automobiles in the world, but the design is a bit meh.

Looks pretty good overall. It will be interesting how the 6 series and 8 series are differentiated. One potentially cool way would be the maximum use of lightweight materials vs. the 6 series.
Also interesting that van Hooydonk designed many of the most criticized BMW cars under Bangle. Bangle took the rap and van Hooydonk became director of BMW design. While I didn't always appreciate his early designs back in the day, he did push the envelope for the better. And this was also the era that produced my beloved Z4M coupe.

Love the architecture of the vehicle, inside and out, hope to see much of the prototype come to fruition in the production vehicles. For all of the guys/gals criticizing the grill I must remind them that this has been one of the elements that has been change the most in BMW's history. Overall, I think is modern, elegant and well delivered.

I think it's a vehicle designed to be part of the vehicles like the R8?
I'm unsure about it's size and power comparisons. I'm sure seeing it on the road it would be like the new Porsches. Really, seeing those new vehicles on the road is not like seeing it in a picture or a video on the computer/brochure. It really looks different in a good way than newer vehicles like Toyotas and lower-end BMWs. They really reap performance and luxury in an area that doesn't go for size and comfort that most people want as they do not care about the high-performance area and will argue to you about you cannot use that kind of performance on the street and/or they will kill themselves if they have it. I argue back sometimes and say well if someone had better braking performance they would have avoided death or worse being crippled for life. Also say the same thing about cornering performance but it ultimately boils down to not exceeding the limits of what you have. It isn't excusable to cheat and have near F1 performance where you can nearly do anything in normal conditions and succeed with flying colors and more. People having vehicles with 5+ star crash rating leaving w/ no issue while some people have half their face missing and worse after crashing at a fraction of the speed they crashed with or got hit by. Some vehicles don't even have a good frame where during a roll over the top caves in leaving them with lots of medical bills and pain if they survived. If you do have the money to spend but choose not to but decide to play in a level that requires certain things to do it right but you don't have it and end up with anything I've said then it's your own fault for being stingy w/ your decisions. |

Because at that level I don't think the dealership really shows people what to do 1:1. The people who sell the vehicles are just there to do the paper works.
