2007 X5 overheating

Need some input. My x5 warning light came on saying slow down to allow engine to cool down. After finally getting it to my friends garage, with no water leaking, we added coolant. The next day still running hot. Would it be the thermostat? If so, what would changing that out cost?

Sounds like a faulty electric water pump and by now would definitely change out the thermostat. You are looking at least $400 in parts.

I just had he same issue to my X5 today, as I lost power while driving. It started with a really loud fan noise and then it went into what seems like safe mode and told me to stop the engine and let it cool down. Did you have a diagnose for your issue?
