Want to replace OE 20" with 19" ..but staggered like OE 20
I was thinking about replacing the 20" on my e70x5d with 19" wheels but keeping the same width as the OE 20"
The reason: - Want to keep that great handling the 275/315 combo gives this 5200 lbs car - Would like to improve comfort with taller sidewalls Having a hard time finding staggered 19" wheels 19x9.5 19x10.5 I assume same offsets as OE 20" would be good? And then there is the tire issue OE 20 275/40/20 315/35/20 Would that translate to 275/45/19 315/40/19 Has anyone done this?? If not, i do see some options for square 19x9.5 out there ... and maybe putting 275/45/19 or even 285/40/19 square? Last edited by mastek; 03-16-2016 at 12:25 PM.. |

M-Sport style 223 wheels. I had them in my previous E70 with non-runflats and comfort was good.

223s are staggered, and are pretty rare to come by.
255/50R19 285/45R19 I know of someone here in the seattle area trying to sell their flawless set from a 2012 X5 with nearly new tires installed as part of CPO (after 1500 miles, seller upgraded to 20"). Let me know if you'd be interested. |

However, i would like to do some more research and see if i can get the desired widths and tire sizes with some aftermarket wheels, before i jump on the 223s. The 223s are not exactly lookers :/ |

You can only do this if the tire manufacturer allows the tire to be stretched on a 10.5 wide wheel. I use Michelin Latitude, non run flat. Wheel is BMW OE style 87 from the previous e53 series. Rear wheels have a H&R 15mm spacer with longer wheel bolts to bring them out a bit more with the wider flares ... You will have to bore out the wheel centers to 74.1mm.

However, why would u skimp down on the rears... those 315s is what gives this car that crazy m3 handling. And you really shouldnt be stretching a 275 tire on a 10.5" wheel... no matter what the tire spec says... there are too many downsides to that. How many miles have you done on this setup? |

If you like the e53 look then these X6 wheels might be your ultimate solution.
Again on my first E70 and the picture is from south Italy X6 has smaller center bore in rear, so about 1mm must be cut out. Staggered set, same 255/285 R19 tires. Looks nice. Google finds the specs in detail... |

I love the look. Do OEM 20's with a 45 and 40. I would even go wider in the front and rear. Also, they'd have to be some cool looking tires like NT05's, you'd have that bulky track stance with that set up. Add some tire graphics and oh man

Newie here to E70 X5, running stock size tire right now, but want to change out the wheel only. I wonder if we can run staggered wheel set up with same size tires front and rear. Or staggered size tire set up with same size wheel and offset. Will it hurt our AWD system? I'm coming from the Subaru world, and we are not allow the do that due to center diff, must be same size wheel and tire size front and rear. Please advise a newbie here.

Personally, I'd stick with OEM sizes.
