Does your X6M have carbon air filter?

Just checking to see how many people have the carbon air filter behind the main air filter in the engine (not the cabin filter). I have read that the X5M does have the carbon filter in North America but the X6M does not have the carbon. I want to remove mine if it does, but don't want to tear apart the engine shroud to find out it does not have the carbon. This is a Canadian/North American vehicle. THX

Yep, you can just remove the carbon air filters. I removed mine 2 years ago. The car breathes better without.

European/Rest of the world X5M does not have it either. only Northamerican version has it.
it is for hug-trees regulations.

I removed mine and put a K&N in. A must especially if you are to do a tune.

Simple. Remove the 4 torx screws under the front piece and pull the front piece up and away dislodging the front rubber compression hold down. There are hinges towards the front so be careful when pulling. 10 min. Max. less than 1 difficulty out of 10.

I took mine apart to get rid of the carbon filters and didn't have any. Would love a cold air intake on this thing. Missing the turbo spool sound

Those K&N drop ins are rubbish. Not necessary for tune either. Stock system is fairly efficient, someone on here had a bad experience with that filter and said it did nothing in terms of performance
