I have now read the backstory on this situation and while I stand by my original reply I also believe he is being untactful and disrespectful. He obviously is trying to grab some spotlight and make a point, that he has accomplished.

Fuck him. The asshole is disrespecting every man and woman who put their ass on the life serving this nation. Yes he has the right to sit his bitch ass down while the anthem plays. Men and women, far greater than him, lost their lives to give him that right.
Fuck him and fuck Thug Lives Matter. Personally I don't think cops are killing enough thugs. Yes I said and I got the right to do so. You can disagree with me, that's your right but I also have the right to then tell you to fuck off.

He's an idiot. He's free to do as he wishes but I don't think he knows clearly all that the Nat Anthem and flag represent. I've fought for this country in far away lands, and lost many friends.....the flag and the anthem represent much much more than black lives matter issues..

ISIS and Al Qaeda would love nothing more than to destroy football, black lives, white lives, purple lives, music, playgrounds, nice cars, bathing suits, and chocolate cake. Oh and the Germans wanted to take over the world and Japan would have continued to repeat their Pearl Harbor act all over the entire west coast....

The flag and the anthem does not represent oppression of any race and is not categorically identified by any one group of people or situation. Like a cop stereo typing an innocent black youth, or a black vigilante killing a white police officer in cold blood.

The flag represents our Nation and the anthem is the voice of that Flag. Where else in the world is there football, you should at least be thankful for that, and there is plenty of racism in America but we do have a black president and I would bet black players in sports make more money than white players as a group....the dude is a fucking idiot. Not supporting him or his team. Go home retard.

So you don't think there should be more police training? I'm confused.

Yes cops should hug all thugs that are coming at them instead of shooting them. I guess that's the new training they should implement.

I have great respect for men and women that have fought for this country.,” Kaepernick said, according to a full transcript of his group interview from Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News. “I have family, I have friends that have gone and fought for this country. They fight for freedom. They fight for the people, they fight for liberty and justice for everyone. And that’s not happening.
“People are dying in vain because this country isn’t holding their end of the bargain up, as far as giving freedom and justice, liberty to everybody. It’s something that’s not happening.”
There’s things we can do to hold them more accountable, make those standards higher,” Kaepernick said, according to Kawakami’s transcript. “You have people that practice law and our lawyers and go to school for eight years, but you can become a cop in six months and don’t have to have the same amount of training as a cosmetologist.
“That’s insane. Someone that’s holding a curling iron has more education and more training than people that have a gun and are going out on the street to protect us.”

So when a season game comes a long, their is family members of fallen heroes in attendance and veterans on field holding flags for national anthem. Will he still sit in protest?

What does the national anthem have to do with protesting police brutality? If he doesn't like America and really wants to protest...move out of the country. Apparently he believes the grass is greener somewhere else. Bye.

Baffles me that when gun control becomes an issue everyone wants to defend to our rights and the constitution. However when a man doesn't stand up for the national anthem, his rights aren't defended and he is immediately ridiculed for it. Im not the smartest man in the world but isn't that considered to be a bit hypocritical??

You can defend his right to do it, but still disagree with what he did. People have that right also. Doesn't make them hypocritical.

I don't know about other cities, but in Austin, Tx it takes more than 6 months.

The Austin Police Training Academy is 32 weeks long, including 1,280 hours of instruction. Throughout the academy, cadets are continually assessed on their physical ability, with tests performed twice a week. Upon graduating from the academy, officers will enter the field training program for 3-4 months to complete their training.

32 weeks is 8 months and the additional 3-4 months means that they spend 11-12 months training.

^ That is pretty standard, SAPD here is the same. More training helps but better vetting at intake is key. I know a lot of cops that should not be cops. But it is changing, cops policing themselves will go a long way at changing things. But it's a culture that is slow to change. Innocent people do get shot and that should not happen, plain and simple.

Kap is an idiot, but idiots are allowed to speak their minds. Ignorant people don't realize they are ignorant and it's tough to ignore them but we must try.

I think Colin is yet another perfect example of why grown human beings shouldn't hero worship other grown human beings who happen to be good at playing a child's game.

Maybe we should protect cities against murdering and robbing with curling irons? Clueless....

Again, boot camp is 10 weeks, and our litmus test of righteousness has no problem with those people defending the entire country! He definitely deserves his $10M a year. I feel bad for his oppression.

Terrible analogy. Not one person in here has said he should not have the right to sit during the anthem or make it illegal to do so. Just people voicing their displeasure. If only anti-gun nuts were just voicing their opinions and not actually trying to amend the constitution.

Considering Krapernick is 2nd string QB at best you would think he would want to stand now and then and stretch his legs rather than sitting on that bench

I stated he has the right to do so but every action has an equal an opposite reaction. Obviously he will piss people off, specifically people who served this country and their families.

Disrespectful, unappreciative punk who desires more attention and is misguided. As a citizen, I have no use for him. As a vet, let him go to hell. If I were the coach, he'd be benched. If I were his teammates (who I understand are equally angry) I would have a "lil chat" in the locker room. Feel oppressed GTFO.

In my world you stand and pledge your allegiance to Old Glory.

Does he also not realize how many inner city child minorities who look up to him? Shameful idiot. Set an example. Want to protest and be this way, do it in private personal life.

Having rights are only so good as they are used; hence the issues in this country.
