LED front lights

Saw them yesterday, real nice. Is anyone here planning a retrofit? Is that even possible to do or too complex? Outer shape is the same which sure helps but still... I know its very expensive even as an option but might be justifiable for some of us.

I actually am interested in trying to make it happen. The only problem for me is the silver and chrome trim on the inside of the headlight unit. I'd have to take it apart and paint those areas and put it back together. That and the high cost of the 2 units themselves kinda makes me wonder if its even worth it. But for sure, I'm going to retrofit the new tail lights. If anyone does either, show us!

I might change the back also, that should be a far cheaper mod. Need to go with LUX in the front.

NEWS: There will be an official retrofit available from BMW for front LED lights with full package including lights, modules and all necessary wiring harness. If you want to upgrade you can do that at your official BMW dealer without loosing any warranty (if you have one present).

This should be available in 1-2 months from now.

Concerning the rear lights: they will be available for retrofit also, but the process is much simpler.

I am also thinking the same!
I really like the new headlight, except for the chrome trim.

If you ever complete the project (painting the trim), please show us!

I would very much like to retrofit the new LCI headlights in my X6 and I can't wait 2 months!

I hope some ingenious people have some ideas? No one has yet stated why they won't work?

That sounds very cool, I hope you put official in italic font because you wanted to emphasize it, not just because one could order parts.

I haven't tried them on the x6, but I thought they were much better on my 650.

I think so. With my X next to my M at night, you can definitely tell the difference. Anything reflective like signs and the like really pop with the LED's

I will purchase soon a used BMW x6 3.5d or 4.0d
I also will change to LED Front lights. I will keep you posted. Probably the retrofit will cost at least around €1.800

That is a very optimistic assumption . When ordering a new one, the option of adding LED front lights is around that amount. If you include the work needed to install them at the dealer.... I think it will be at least 4,000. 35d or 40d is a great choice! Good luck!

Part number for retrofit is: 63132297442
The retrofit is about 5000 eur here in Estonia without labor.

5000 Euro? That's about $6235 in US at today's current exchange rate just for parts! Wow Ah no thanks for that price! Hope its cheaper later on when it gets over here on US shores.

By time you do the rear lights as well it will be $7k, rather put the money towards a new vehicle.

Suppose you could always buy the new X6 with normal lights and swap them over but that will cost also.

That is insane. The only headlights I can imagine spending $6325 on are made of silicone. They wouldn't help me keep my eyes on the road, but would definitely get me home from work faster everyday.
