Found this on one of the websites for the X6///M steering wheel

* For BMW E71 X6 and BMW E72 X6 Hyb, this listed X6M steering wheel with DCT / DKG shift paddles is "just plug and play". There is neither additional parts nor programming / coding needed. You will just take your existing steering wheel and install this X6M steering wheel, simple as this. The X6M steering wheel comes with M multifunction button, therefore, you may / may not want to swap your current setup multifunction buttons

* BMW E70 X5 do not come with the DCT / DKG shift paddles OEM from the factory. If you are planning to use this steering wheel on a BMW E70 X5, additional wiring needs to wired to make the DCT / DKG shift paddles work, so please consult your technician for more details
