Summer Performance Tires

Guys, I just got my apex arc-8, 8.5x18 et38 and 9.5x18 et62 and now searching for tires for that wheels. Currently looking for 225/40/18 and 265/35/18. I'm running stock suspension and stock height as well. So far I find Michelin PSS and other brands as well. Quite interested with Nitto nt05 though but don't really know about it. I know my front setup is too aggressive but I believe using right tires will make it happen.

Can any of you help me out to decide which tires should I go with? Sticky tires are fine to me as long as it does not sacrifice too much on longevity.

So far I found:
Bridgestone S-04
Michelin PSS
Nitto NT05

Please help me out guys. Appreciate any comment and opinion. Thanks!

Anyone on here will tell you to go with the PSS. There are lots of threads on that tire.

personally I think if you want a 'true' performance tire, PSS should go right out the window.

I run Hankook rs3s and love them. Dunlop z2s should also be considered. both have limited life, are a bit louder, but will out handle any other street tire on the market

Yeah, I know most of the time Michelin PSS is hands down for its capability. How's the performance of dunlop direzza ZII? I have few other choice such as Bridgestone such as RE11 that some people compare it with Direzza ZII but I need to know more about those tires

I would not get PSS tires if you are searching for the best performing tire. Its a great all around tire, but there isn't as much actual tread hitting the road because of the huge channels the PSS uses.

I currently run the Nitto NT05s in the exact setup you're thinking about above. I like them, they have a great amount of traction, but the tread-life is pretty poor. They only come with 6/32nds tread brand new, unlike most other tires that are at 9/32 or 10/32s.

So I decided to buy new wheels, with the same size/offset as the ARC-8s and run a wider tire setup: 245/40/18 and 285/35/18 with my wheels. I'm putting Dunlop Direzza DIIs up front and Hankook Ventus RS-3s out back. These two tires have a 9/32nds tread depth while still being in the extreme performance tire category. The wider with will probably increase traction a little over the skinnier NT05s even tho i think those are stickier, and i'll have better tire life in the long run.

Are you running et45 woth 245 up front? Mine is actually et38 and that's why I'm looking for 225/40 and not too wide tires, I know Michelin PSS is not too wide until you hit 245. How about Bridgestone Potenza RE11? How's the ride on Direzza ZII? I heard direzza is a bit noisy

Extremely happy with my Continental ExtremeContact DW, I was concerned about lack of steering response (mentioned by many users running them on various models of Porsche) but does not seem to be the case on my 128i. They may not be as good as the PSS (but they are probably at 90% of the PSS) and cost half the price

That's the only reason I tried to avoid continental extreme dw. It doesn't really bother me as long as the price is worth the performance and longevity. I don't want some sticky tires that cost above $1000 but really track oriented
