Hey guys any of you taken the charcoal air filters out of your 50i's? Thinking of doing it but looks a fair bit of work and wanna know if it's worthwhile before doing it. Thanks!

This might sound silly, but why remove it.

From what I understand it can give a nicer and louder intake sound and allows air to flow much more freely into the intake. From what I have read these are US only and not included on euro models.

Hello,
Where are they located, and how do you remove them?
Thanks,

Europe is known to be more stringenty when it comes to environmental requirements, so I doubt that they will be installed as an environment protection device in the US but not in Europe.
I advice that before they are removed, that a question be asked to BMW North America (not the dealer) of their function and the effect of removing them.

miquex,

What were the effects of the removal of your charcoal filter.

Any special tools required? How long did it take you?
