Is your purchase linked to a winter tires set?

No it's not. 18" wheels won't fit on an M.

Tirerack shows the wheel size for an M as 255-50-19.

No 18" but squared 19" are also recommended by BMW.

Tire Rack has a set of non-staggered 19s that will work well. However, state of PA won't pass inspection on a vehicle with wheels smaller than OEM. So most put on summer shoes for inspection.

you should have not problems selling the 18's and picking up a set of 19's to replace them. More work but very doable. I would not pay more for the "additional winters"
